Jean Claudio was a French actor and voice actor whose career spanned approximately fifty years. Born on March 28, 1927, and active until his death on January 11, 1992, he appeared in numerous French and American television productions throughout his career, including guest roles in American series from the 1980s such as The Avengers, Magnum, P.I., and Hart to Hart.

Claudio is best known among anime fans for his voice work in the original Voltron: Defender of the Universe series. In the French dub of Voltron, produced at the Studio SOFI, he provided the voices for two major characters: the villainous King Zarkon, ruler of Planet Doom, and the wise Royal Advisor Coran, who served Princess Allura and the Voltron Force. Beyond Voltron, his voice acting portfolio included other prominent 1980s animated series. He was the French voice of Miles Mayhem, the leader of the terrorist organization V.E.N.O.M., in the series M.A.S.K.. He also voiced the character Spirit in the French dub of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.

In the field of French dubbing for feature films, Claudio notably provided the voice for Emperor Palpatine in the original French dub of Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, matching the performance of actor Clive Revill. This specific dub was later replaced and re-recorded when Ian McDiarmid assumed the role permanently for subsequent films. His additional voice work for animated series included roles in Transformers, where he voiced the character Galvatron and Blaster for certain episodes, as well as work on series such as Rahan.
