Ahn Jongguk is a veteran South Korean male voice actor. He was born on August 27, 1942, and began his voice acting career in 1964 when he joined the DBS broadcasting system. Following the media consolidation of 1980, he became affiliated with the KBS Voice Actor Association, where he is classified as a member of the 7th generation of KBS voice actors.

Throughout his extensive career, Ahn Jongguk has become particularly known for providing the voices for middle-aged and elderly characters, often utilizing a deep and rough vocal quality. He was especially active in the dubbing of foreign films during the 1980s and 1990s. One of his most recognized anime roles is that of Gendou Ikari, the cold and enigmatic commander of NERV, in the seminal series Neon Genesis Evangelion. He performed this role for the Champ video VHS release of the series in South Korea.

Beyond his work on Evangelion, his voice acting in animation includes roles in popular series such as One Piece and Monster. After a period of reduced activity in the anime genre, he returned to voice a character in the Korean dub of the animated film Incredibles 2 in 2018. His career is marked by a long and steady presence in the South Korean dubbing industry, with a focus on lending his distinctive voice to a wide array of characters in both film and animation.
