Shōhei Osada

Description
Shōhei Osada is a Japanese comedian and actor who performs as the straight man in the popular comedy duo Chocolate Planet. While his primary career is in comedy, he has taken on occasional voice acting roles in film and television, drawing on his performance background and comedic timing. Osada was born on January 28, 1980 in Kyoto, Japan. He is a graduate of Saga Art Junior College and is managed by the entertainment conglomerate Yoshimoto Kogyo, having been active as a performer since the mid-2000s.

Osada is best known for his work in live-action comedy rather than for an extensive voice acting filmography. However, he has lent his voice to several notable animated projects. One of his most prominent voice roles is the character Dai Kanbu, also known as Mr. Top Brass, a formidable enemy in the 2025 theatrical film Me & Roboco: The Movie. This casting is notable because his comedy partner, Shun Matsuo, voices the titular character Roboco, bringing their on-stage comedic chemistry into the recording booth. Other voice acting credits include a role in the film Crayon Shin-chan: Shrouded in Mystery! The Flowers of Tenkazu Academy and providing voice work for the Kamen Rider franchise, specifically as the character Mela, who transforms into Kamen Rider Cross Geats.

Osada's career is defined by his longstanding creative partnership with Shun Matsuo. The two formed their comedy duo in 2004 and have since become well-known figures in Japanese entertainment for their manzai routines and comic sketches. Their frequent collaboration extends to their joint voice work in Me & Roboco, which stands as a primary example of their shared projects. Prior to his work in animation, Osada had occasional voice roles in other programs, including the educational NHK series Eigo de Asobo with Orton. As a comedian, he has received recognition for his individual work, including advancing to the finals of the 2018 R-1 Grand Prix, a major competition for solo comedians.
