Yūko Hisamatsu

Yuko Hisamatsu was a Japanese actress and voice actor born on June 29, 1933 in Tokyo, Japan. She passed away on February 11, 2026 at the age of 92. Known professionally by her birth name in some contexts, her real name was Takako Kounosu. She was a graduate of Tokyo Metropolitan Komatsugawa High School and joined the theatrical troupe Seinenza in 1968, remaining a member until 2020. Her husband was the playwright and director Yoshitsugu Fukuda.

Hisamatsu's career as a voice actor included a notable role as the protagonist in the 1973 anime series The Brave Frog, where she voiced Demetan. In the 1977 series Fūsen Shōjo Temple-chan, she voiced the character Fuwatto. Her voice acting work extended to several other anime productions, including early episodes of Mahoutsukai Sally in 1966 where she played Pony, and Mushi Monogatari Minashigo Hatchi in 1970 portraying characters such as Kagerou, Tonkichi, and Nanahoshitentou. She also voiced Tobini in Paul no Miracle Daisakusen in 1976. Later in her career, she contributed voice work to the 2002 anime Umigame to Shonen, playing the role of Tetsuo's Grandmother, and to the first season of the TV Asahi version of Doraemon in 2003, where she voiced a grandmother character.

In addition to her anime work, Hisamatsu had a prolific career as a live-action actress appearing in numerous television dramas, including long-running series such as the NHK taiga dramas Musashi MUSASHI in 2003 and Yae no Sakura in 2013, as well as the TBS drama Arigatou. She also appeared in the 2009 Kamen Rider series Kamen Rider W. Her stage work included performances in Shin Wagner-ka no Onna and Harukanaru Futatsu no Sokoku. Her career spanned from the 1960s well into the 2010s, demonstrating a long and versatile presence in Japanese entertainment.
