Gigi Pirarba
Description
Gigi Pirarba is an Italian voice actor best known for his work in anime dubbing during the late 1970s and 1980s. His most recognized role is Albert Heinrich, the cyborg designated 004, in the Italian-language version of the classic anime series Cyborg 009. In this adaptation, he also provided the voice for the character Sebert.
Before his voice acting career, Pirarba was a long-time speaker for the RAI TG1 news program from the 1960s into the 1990s. He also hosted the studio program Oggi al Parlamento and was the historic voice of the RAI time signal during the afternoon and evening hours from 1979 to 1995.
Beyond Cyborg 009, his other anime voice roles include Thor in Il mitico Thor, Flunky in Zoo Olympics, Butch in Bozo il clown, and the narrator in La principessa Zaffiro. He also voiced the character Albert in the anime Charlotte of the Young Grass.
In addition to his animation work, Pirarba was an accomplished dubbing actor for live-action films. He was the Italian voice of Steve McQueen in the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair and dubbed actor Tony Musante in The Bird with the Crystal Plumage from 1970. He also provided the Italian voice for the character Spirito Santo in the spaghetti western Gunmen and the Holy Ghost. His birth name is Giulio Cesare Pirarba, and he was born in Perdasdefogu, Sardinia, Italy on April 17, 1935.
