Osamu Sakuta was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on July 9, 1958, in Kagoshima, Japan. His career in entertainment began at a young age; after his family moved to Tokyo during his elementary school years, he started acting professionally in 1971. He initially appeared as a child actor in various live-action television series, particularly in the tokusatsu genre, with guest roles in programs such as Kamen Rider and Kikaider. His most prominent live-action role came in 1984 when he starred as Ken Takase, the titular hero in the Toei tokusatsu series Seiun Kamen Machineman.

In the 1990s, Sakuta transitioned into voice acting, working extensively in anime and in Japanese dubs of foreign films and television programs. In anime, he is known for several supporting roles. He voiced Hokuto in the series B't X and its OAV sequel B't X Neo. He played the villainous Zhao Zhijing in the anime adaptation Legend of the Condor Hero. His later anime roles included Shishinki in InuYasha: The Final Act and Daisuke Aramaki, the chief of Section 9, in the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series and its related films. He also had a recurring role as Department Chief in the anime Monster.

In addition to anime, Sakuta was active in voice-over work for video games and Western media. He voiced The End in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and its re-releases, and Code Talker in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He provided the Japanese voice for Leon Vance, the NCIS director, in the long-running American television series NCIS.

Osamu Sakuta passed away on December 4, 2020, from pancreatic cancer at the age of 62.
