Goro Mutsumi was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on September 11, 1934, in Kobe. He passed away on June 5, 2021, at the age of 86. His career in entertainment began in 1955 with his film debut and spanned several decades, during which he built a substantial body of work in film, television, and voice acting.

Mutsumi was a familiar face in Japanese television dramas, frequently appearing in period pieces known as jidaigeki and special effects productions called tokusatsu, where he often portrayed villainous characters. His numerous television guest appearances include roles in series such as Key Hunter, Mighty Jack, Lone Wolf and Cub, G-Men '75, Ultraman 80, and Uchuu Keiji Sharivan. In addition to his on-screen work, he provided narration for several series, including Mirrorman and Hissatsu Shikakenin.

His voice acting career also encompassed live-action dubbing. He is known for voicing Dr. Richard Kimble, the role originated by David Janssen, in the Japanese dub of the American series The Fugitive. In film, he provided the Japanese voice for Dr. Paul Stewart in the 1966 kaiju film The War of the Gargantuas.

In the realm of anime, Mutsumi is recognized for his role as the villain Crystal Bowie in the 1982 film Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie. He also appeared in other notable films, such as playing the alien leader Kuronuma in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) and Commander Hell in The War in Space (1977). Later in his career, he worked as a lecturer for the talent agency Theatre Academy, where he also produced and directed stage plays.
