Description
In the Forest of Scraps, a strange realm where lost and unwanted things wash up like flotsam, an ancient dragon has retreated to spend his final days in solitude. Weary and nearing the end of his long life, he expects nothing more than a quiet death until a small cloth sack tumbles from the sky before him. Inside is a tiny human girl named Eve. No older than five, she has somehow survived the forest's dangers and been abandoned, quite literally, like yesterday's trash. Taking pity on the child, the dragon decides to raise her as his own, naming him Snoozy in a moment of five-year-old whimsy.

The story follows their life together in the Forest of Scraps, where Snoozy does his best to parent a relentlessly cheerful and magically powerful child despite his failing body. Their peaceful but limited existence lasts for five years until the dragon finally succumbs to his age, breathing his last and leaving Eve alone in the world. Yet Eve is no ordinary girl. Grief-stricken and wielding a latent magical talent far beyond her years, she accomplishes the astonishing feat of resurrecting her father as a skeletal, ghostly being. This miracle, however, is not a permanent solution. Snoozy's second life is on borrowed time, and his spirit body will eventually give out.

Determined to make the most of their limited time, the skull dragon and his human daughter leave the forest to find a place for Eve in the wider world and to help her gain control over her volatile abilities before he vanishes for good. Their journey leads them to a human town where they encounter Yule, a cunning and avaricious hotelier with the ability to see ghosts, who quickly appoints himself as Eve's business manager. As Eve begins to settle into society, she must navigate the challenges of her overwhelming magical power, the secret of her undead father, and the mysteries of her own past before she was abandoned. The series expands into a warm exploration of found family, touching on the connections between different races as Eve and Snoozy interact with his biological dragon offspring and other outcasts, blending heartfelt comedy with the bittersweet knowledge that their time together is running out.
