Description
A young boy named Iruma lives a life of desperate poverty in the brutal slums of a bustling city. Despite his circumstances, he remains unfailingly kind, a trait that leads him to give his last loaf of bread to a severely injured old man he finds lying in the street. Iruma nurses the stranger back to health, only to discover that his patient is Don Sullivan, the charismatic and powerful head of the notorious Babel Mafia. Overjoyed by Iruma's selfless nature, Sullivan returns shortly after recovering to whisk the boy away, begging him to become his grandson and heir.
The story then accelerates forward nine years. Iruma has grown up within the famiglia's lavish but dangerous embrace, now serving as the young underboss and next in line to lead the organization. His world is populated by familiar faces recast in new roles. His devoted and fiercely capable bodyguard is Opera, a former slum desperado whose loyalty was won by Iruma's inherent goodness. The perpetually scowling and strict Kalego Naberius acts as the famiglia's treasurer and Iruma's tutor, constantly exasperated by the chaotic situations his charge creates. While the original demon world setting is gone, the mafia underworld is presented as its own kind of hell, a corrupt and violent realm populated by power-hungry "demons" in a human sense.
