A violent heist at a Vatican City museum pulls demon hunter Dante into a sinister plot to forge a rift between the human world and Hell. Dante, a laid-back cambion who inherited the demonic power of his father Sparda, runs a demon-hunting business while staying one step ahead of the government organization Dark Realm Command (DARKCOM), which is led by Vice President William Baines and views Dante as a threat. The heist’s mastermind is the White Rabbit, a demon-obsessed terrorist who steals the legendary sword Force Edge, once owned by Sparda, and broadcasts his intention to destroy the barrier between realms and bring about the apocalypse. As the White Rabbit and his demonic servants, including the plant serpent Echidna and the shapeshifting Plasma, wreak havoc, DARKCOM lieutenant Mary Ann Arkham—whom Dante nicknames Lady—is assigned to hunt him down.
