Soara is an orphan raised by knights and trained from childhood to fight in the long war between humans and monsters. On the very day she comes of age and is finally ready to take the field, peace is declared, and her sword is no longer needed. With no home, no family, and no purpose, she wanders aimlessly until she crosses paths with a band of traveling dwarf architects led by a young dwarf named Kirik. Rather than fighting monsters, these architects travel the land designing and building comfortable, customized homes for creatures of all kinds—goblins, slimes, dragons, demon lords, and more. Initially distrustful of monsters, Soara is gradually moved by the architects’ dedication and compassion, and she decides to join their crew.

Soara and the house builders journey through a fantasy world still scarred by the recent conflict, taking on projects that range from a simple goblin dwelling to a dragon’s lair, a slime’s sanctuary, and even a demon lord’s castle. Each new commission forces Soara to confront her ingrained prejudices and see monsters not as enemies but as individuals with their own needs, families, and dreams.
