Description
Suzuko Kawahara, the only daughter of ARCAM Corporation archaeologist Shozo Kawahara, witnessed her father’s growing obsession with occult artifacts—initially dismissed by her as fiction—fundamentally alter his behavior. This fixation contributed to her mother’s death from heartache after Shozo neglected to return home during the family crisis.
Following her father’s assassination in Egypt by Neo-Nazi operative Hans Schneider, Suzuko traveled there privately to grieve at his memorial. There, she encountered Yu Ominae, who revealed his ARCAM connections and disclosed that Shozo was killed over the Crystal Skull—an artifact with capabilities eclipsing modern technology, including the power to initiate nuclear explosions. Her link to the relic made her a target for Neo-Nazi assassins.
Despite resenting ARCAM for her family’s tragedy, Suzuko allied with Yu and his mentor Oboro—infiltrating the Neo-Nazis under the alias Mirage—to dismantle their Egyptian faction led by Kutheimer. After Kutheimer’s defeat, she returned to Japan, quit her job, and joined ARCAM to pursue her father’s path. Director Yamamoto suggested she retain her teaching career, leading to her placement as a substitute world history teacher at Yu Ominae’s high school.
As one of Yu’s educators, Suzuko is among the few faculty aware of his dual life as a Spriggan operative. She later supervised his class during a field trip, covering his absence when he pursued a kidnapped student. Her surname, Kawahara (川原), means "river beach" or "dry riverbed," while Suzuko (鈴子) combines "bell" (鈴) and "child" (子).
