Description
Haro is a small, spherical mechanical robot that appears as a recurring mascot character within the Gundam franchise. In the specific context of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096, the Haro belonging to the protagonist, Banagher Links, is not the original unit built by the famous pilot Amuro Ray, but rather a replica. The character explains that these robotic pets were very popular toys for children in the years following the massive conflict known as the One Year War. This particular Haro was a gift given to Banagher by his father when he was young. As a result of his own technical aptitude, Banagher has also added unique improvements to this specific unit beyond its standard factory specifications.

As a robot, Haro possesses a limited but functional artificial intelligence. Its primary form of communication is a simple, repetitive speech pattern, often saying its own name or short phrases. Its personality is cheerful, energetic, and loyal, always ready to assist its owner. Unlike humans in the story who are often conflicted by the complex politics of the Universal Century, Haro's motivations are simple and straightforward, focused entirely on supporting Banagher and providing companionship.

In the narrative of the series, Haro serves both practical and emotional functions. On a practical level, it is capable of independent movement and can float or hover in zero-gravity environments by flapping its small ear-like appendages. It provides system alerts, helps with basic navigation, and can engage in simple conversations. On an emotional level, Haro acts as a tiny piece of home and stability for Banagher, offering a sense of comfort and normalcy amid the chaos of the war surrounding the spaceship Nahel Argama. Its most significant relationship is with its owner, Banagher Links. While it interacts with other characters such as Audrey Burne and the crew members, its primary loyalty and attention remain fixed on Banagher. Throughout the story, Haro does not undergo a traditional character arc or development, as its fundamental programming and personality remain static. However, its consistent presence highlights Banagher's own growth and the stability of their bond as he faces increasingly dangerous situations. Its notable abilities include rolling on the ground, flapping its ear covers to achieve limited flight or hovering, responding to voice commands, and independently operating its mechanical systems to assist in the maintenance of a mobile suit cockpit.
