Description
Monomi is a rabbit mascot character who appears in the anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc as an avatar operated by Miaya Gekkogahara. She originates from the game Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, where she was first introduced as Usami, a magical girl rabbit who served as the teacher of a virtual school trip. During that game, Monokuma forcibly altered her appearance and renamed her Monomi, branding her as his younger sister. In the Future Arc, Monomi returns with her altered design, functioning as the external representation of Miaya Gekkogahara within the Final Killing Game that traps the Future Foundation leaders.

Monomi retains the core personality she displayed in her earlier appearance: she is earnest, well-meaning, and genuinely concerned for the safety and morale of those around her. Unlike Monokuma, who delights in chaos and despair, Monomi has a moderate disposition and tries to encourage cooperation and hope. She is persistent in her efforts to help others, even when her attempts are met with suspicion or hostility. Her underlying motivation is to protect the participants and guide them toward a non-violent resolution, reflecting the role she was originally designed to fulfill as an Observer within the Neo World Program.

Within the story of the Future Arc, Monomi acts as a companion and support avatar for Miaya Gekkogahara, who is one of the Future Foundation leaders participating in the killing game. Monomi appears alongside Miaya and communicates on her behalf, since Miaya herself is largely nonverbal. This makes Monomi a crucial intermediary between Miaya and the other characters. Monomi's involvement ties directly to Miaya's own role in the conflict, and as such, Monomi's presence in the game is tied to Miaya's survival and actions.

Monomi's key relationships are defined through her connection to Miaya Gekkogahara, as she is essentially an extension of Miaya's will. She also has a clear adversarial dynamic with Monokuma, who continues to belittle and undermine her. Among the Future Foundation members, she interacts most directly with Makoto Naegi and others who are familiar with her from previous events, but her status as an avatar means she is often seen as a secondary presence rather than an independent agent.

In terms of development, Monomi's role in the Future Arc is limited compared to her appearance in Danganronpa 2. She does not undergo significant personal growth within this story, as her function is primarily as a tool for Miaya rather than as an independent character. Her significance comes from her connection to the broader narrative of the killing game and the revelation of Miaya's true situation.

Monomi's notable abilities include her function as a mobile avatar capable of interacting with the physical environment and communicating with other characters. She can move freely within the spaces of the Final Killing Game and relay information. She does not possess combat capabilities or special powers beyond her role as a communication and observation device. Her design retains the rabbit motif with features that blend the original magical girl aesthetic of Usami with the darker, more gaudy elements imposed by Monokuma, including a diaper and mismatched ear.
