Description
Muetta is a character from the mecha series Kuromukuro. She is an officer of the extraterrestrial organization known as Efi Dorg and serves as the pilot of a geoframe designated Medusa by the United Nations. Her origins are unusual: Muetta is a clone created by the Efi Dorg using the DNA of the princess Yukihime, who lived 450 years before the events of the story. As a result, she shares identical genetic material with Yukihime and with the modern-day student Yukina Shirahane. This cloning practice reflects the Efi Dorg’s method of generating troops on site from the genetic material of conquered individuals.
In terms of personality, Muetta initially embodies the disciplined, mission-driven attitude expected of an Efi Dorg border reform officer. She is capable and serious in combat, but she also possesses a personal rivalry with another Efi Dorg officer named Mirasa, though her intensity in that rivalry is less extreme than Mirasa’s. Her motivations primarily stem from her allegiance to Efi Dorg, but as the story progresses, her loyalties become more complex.
Muetta’s role in the narrative begins as an antagonist, operating the Medusa geoframe in battles against the human defenders. A key turning point occurs when Mirasa stabs Muetta, an act that nearly kills her but also severs her connection to the Efi Dorg cause. After surviving this betrayal, Muetta eventually decides to help the series’ protagonist, Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma, in rescuing Yukina from Efi Dorg control. This shift makes her a reluctant ally who provides crucial assistance by using her ability to navigate the Kuromukuro, the ancient mecha that Kennosuke pilots. Later, she joins Kennosuke and another ally, Zell, in a plan to leave Earth to fight elsewhere, demonstrating that she has fully turned away from her former allegiance.
Her development is marked by the transition from a cloned soldier following orders to an individual who chooses her own path. The betrayal by Mirasa forces her to reevaluate her situation, and her subsequent cooperation with the humans shows growth in her capacity for trust and independent decision-making. Among her notable abilities, she is a skilled pilot of the Medusa geoframe, which is a powerful mecha in its own right. Additionally, she can serve as a navigator for the Kuromukuro, a role that usually requires a biometrically compatible partner, further emphasizing her unique genetic connection to Yukihime and Yukina.
Muetta’s key relationships include her fraught dynamic with Mirasa, which culminates in violence and ultimately leads to her defection. She also has a complex connection to Yukina, as they are genetic copies of the same original person, which creates an underlying bond despite their initial opposition. Her alliance with Kennosuke is born out of necessity but becomes one of mutual reliance during key confrontations. Through her actions, Muetta emerges as a character who, despite her artificial origins, gains a measure of agency and contributes to the resolution of the conflict.
