Description
Monaka is a short, slender, red-skinned humanoid alien from the planet Wagashi in Universe 7. He has a large, round head, pointed ears, a small upturned nose, and notably large nipples referred to as the Grand Ponta. He typically wears a green jumpsuit and purple boots, and works as an intergalactic deliveryman. His actual personality is timid, gentle, and extremely nervous; he becomes visibly distressed in high-pressure situations, often crying or fainting at the prospect of combat.
Monaka is introduced when the God of Destruction Beerus recruits him under a false pretense. Beerus claims that Monaka is the strongest warrior he has ever faced and that he once gave Beerus a difficult fight, using this fabrication to motivate Goku and Vegeta to train harder. In truth, Monaka possesses no combat abilities whatsoever and has no interest in fighting. His primary motivation is to return to his quiet, ordinary life as a delivery driver, but he is coerced into participating in the Tournament of Destroyers between Universe 7 and Universe 6.
During the tournament, Monaka is held back as a supposed secret weapon. After Goku deliberately forfeits his match against the assassin Hit, Monaka is forced into the final round. Trembling and crying, he charges with his eyes shut and arms flailing, but Hit intentionally throws the fight by dramatically leaping out of the ring as a subtle thanks to Goku for helping him grow stronger. This accidental victory secures the tournament for Universe 7, and Goku remains completely fooled by the deception.
Monaka appears again during the Duplicate Vegeta arc on Planet Potaufeu, where he accidentally steps on the core of the liquid being Commeson, reducing its threat and allowing Goku to defeat it. Later, when Universe 7 assembles a team for the Tournament of Power, Goku asks about Monaka, but Beerus claims he is unwell, preserving the lie.
Key relationships include Beerus, who orchestrates and maintains the charade, and Goku, who regards Monaka with deep admiration and curiosity. Vegeta and Piccolo quickly suspect the truth but do not expose it. Monaka shows no personal growth or power development; he remains an ordinary, weak individual whose entire significance is rooted in the elaborate bluff created by Beerus. He has no notable abilities beyond his competence as a deliveryman, and his official power level is so low that he does not register on any measurable scale.
