Description
Keel Lorenz serves as the enigmatic chairman of the secret organization Seele and also presides over the Human Instrumentality Committee, the five-member body that directly oversees Nerv's Evangelion project on behalf of the United Nations. Very little is known about his past, but it is confirmed that he was active within Seele before the catastrophic event known as Second Impact. He collaborated closely with Gendo Ikari in the United Nations-led cover-up that concealed the true nature of that disaster, which involved Adam and the Katsuragi Expedition. Through Seele, he provided secret backing to the research organization Gehirn and later to its successor, Nerv.
Physically, Keel Lorenz is an elderly man of Germanic or Austrian appearance, with silver hair and a stern, heavy-featured face. At some point between Second Impact and the year 2015, the majority of his body below the neck was replaced with cybernetic implants. He wears a visor-like device over his eyes, though production materials indicate he still possesses functioning human eyes beneath it.
