TV-Series
Description
Nako Kagura is the main protagonist of Steel Angel Kurumi 2, set approximately seventy‑five years after the original series. She is the great‑granddaughter of Nakahito Kagura, the hero of the first story, and lives with her single mother, Misaki, at the old Kagura shrine, where she serves as a shrine maiden. Nako is a fourteen‑year‑old ninth‑grade student at a prestigious all‑girls school. She has medium‑length dark blue hair and blue eyes, and often wears glasses.

Her personality is gentle, soft‑spoken, and slightly shy, with a tendency toward clumsiness. She is a kind and considerate person, easily flustered by the chaotic events that unfold around her. Despite her reserved demeanor, she possesses a strong inner loyalty to those she cares about and can be resolute when protecting her friends. Nako is also a highly skilled cellist, dedicated to her musical studies, and shows considerable promise as a musician.

Her role in the story begins when she and her best friend, the wealthy and possessive Uruka Sumeragi, become lost in the shrine’s underground labyrinth. There, Nako discovers a giant statue that falls onto her, and out of it emerges Kurumi Mk. II. Nako accidentally kisses Kurumi, awakening the Steel Angel and binding herself as Kurumi’s new master. This event sets off a comedic and dramatic love polygon: Kurumi becomes fiercely devoted to Nako, Uruka grows intensely jealous and uses her father’s resources to try to destroy Kurumi and win back Nako’s affection, and the Steel Angel Karinka Mk. II also becomes infatuated with Nako. Nako thus becomes the center of a romantic rivalry that drives much of the plot.

Her key relationships include her deep but often exasperated bond with Kurumi, who relentlessly protects and pursues her; her long‑standing friendship with Uruka, which strains under jealousy; her mother Misaki, who supports her at home; and the other Steel Angels, Saki and Karinka, who add further complications. Throughout the series, Nako is forced to navigate these intense emotions while continuing her cello practice and daily life, gradually growing more confident in handling the supernatural and romantic chaos around her. She does not possess any superhuman abilities herself, but her role as master of a Steel Angel gives her a pivotal place in the story, and her musical talent remains her most notable personal skill.
