Movie
Description
Daihakusei is a character who appears exclusively in the Ranma ½ movie "Big Trouble in Nekonron, China." He is one of the Seven Lucky Gods, a group of martial artists who rule the small Chinese kingdom of Nekonron. This group, the masters of the Seven Lucky Gods School of Martial Arts, has a strict diet, having eaten nothing but rice and pickled vegetables for generations, which has left them unable to consume any other type of food.

Daihakusei is a young man who, along with his brother Daikokusei, serves directly under their leader, Kirin. The two are identical twins and are depicted as being almost completely of one mind, thinking alike in nearly every situation. Their defining characteristic is their shared obsession with the board game Go. The only apparent way to distinguish the two brothers is by the color of the pieces they prefer to play during their games. Their personalities are defined by a dual nature; they are eager to engage in a game of Go, but they are equally eager to eliminate any threat to their prince and master, Kirin.

In the story of "Big Trouble in Nekonron, China," Kirin has kidnapped Akane Tendo, believing her to be his destined bride. As Ranma Saotome fights his way through the stronghold to rescue her, he eventually encounters the twin brothers. Daihakusei and Daikokusei act as guardians, attempting to stop Ranma from progressing further toward Kirin's tower. Their method of combat is directly tied to their love of Go. They attack by wielding giant pieces from a Go board as weapons, trying to smash their opponent with them. Despite this unique strategy, Ranma is able to discern the pattern of their attacks, outsmart them, and ultimately defeat the pair. He defeats them by turning their own weapon against them, burying the two brothers under the enormous gate.

As a minor antagonist unique to the film, Daihakusei does not undergo any significant character development. His key relationships are with his twin brother, with whom he is nearly always paired, and with his master, Kirin, to whom he shows unwavering loyalty. His primary ability is his proficiency in the martial arts style of the Seven Lucky Gods, which he seamlessly merges with his mastery of the game of Go. This allows him to use the oversized, heavy game pieces as formidable bludgeoning weapons in combat.
