Description
Oolong is an anthropomorphic pig with the ability to change his shape, and he appears in the third Dragon Ball film, Mystical Adventure, as a member of the supporting cast. Before the events of the movie, he was introduced into the group when Goku and Bulma encountered him during their search for the Dragon Balls. At that time he was a troublemaker who terrorized a village and kidnapped its young women. After being defeated, he joined Bulma's group and eventually came to live at Capsule Corporation. He was expelled from a transformation school after stealing the teacher's underwear, and his shape-shifting carries a notable limitation: he cannot maintain a transformed appearance for more than about five minutes without a break.
In Mystical Adventure, Oolong has a relatively small role. He travels with Bulma, Launch, and Puar while they search for six Dragon Balls so that Bulma can make a wish. Their search brings them to the palace of Emperor Chiaotzu in the country of Mifan, where the Dragon Balls have been located. When the group tries to take the balls, they are ambushed by Master Shen and his guards, and the Dragon Balls are accidentally dropped into the moat surrounding the castle. Oolong is therefore involved in the hunt for the Dragon Balls but does not take part in the main fighting, acting mostly as companionship and comic relief for the central adventurers.
In terms of personality, Oolong is cowardly, lazy, and self-serving, with a strong instinct for self-preservation. He is quick to complain and eager to avoid danger, yet he remains loyal enough to stay with his friends and support their efforts in his own cautious manner.
