Description
Dorodabo, also known as Wings, is a character from the animated film Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, where he serves as one of the primary henchmen to the villainous Lord Slug. His design is that of a large, imposing figure with brown skin and a gargoyle-like appearance, complete with a pair of wings that enable him to fly. He also possesses two small horns on his forehead. His visual design and role as a brutish enforcer draw a clear inspiration from Dodoria, a similar henchman of Frieza from the main series.

Dorodabo is depicted as a cruel and boastful individual who carries out his master’s orders with unwavering loyalty. He is very confident in his own abilities and firmly believes in Lord Slug’s invincibility. This combination of arrogance and devotion defines his personality, as he willingly participates in the subjugation of Earth without any moral hesitation. His primary motivation is to serve Lord Slug and help him achieve his goal of making the planet habitable for his clan, a mission Dorodabo pursues with zeal.

In the story, Dorodabo plays a supporting antagonistic role. Upon arriving on Earth, he is tasked with helping to collect the Dragon Balls, a mission he and his comrades complete in less than an hour. After Lord Slug uses the Dragon Balls and begins terraforming the planet, Dorodabo confronts the hero Piccolo. This battle is his most significant action in the film. He initially overwhelms the young Gohan, but when facing Piccolo, the dynamic changes drastically. Despite a guidebook noting that his superhuman strength surpasses that of any other member of Slug’s clan, Piccolo proves to be far superior. The Namekian warrior brutally crushes Dorodabo’s hand, breaks his arm, and thoroughly defeats him.

This defeat leads to a key moment for the character. With his fighting spirit broken, Dorodabo surrenders and, showing a cunning and opportunistic side, attempts to recruit Piccolo. He appeals to what he believes is a shared heritage as a Demon Clansman, suggesting they join forces with Lord Slug. This act reveals that his loyalty might be secondary to his own survival, or that he genuinely sees Piccolo as a kindred spirit. However, his assumption is tragically incorrect. As he reaches out his hand, Piccolo grabs it only to fire an energy blast point-blank at his face, instantly killing him. Beyond his primary appearance, the character has also made minor cameos in other Dragon Ball media, such as the film Fusion Reborn, where his color scheme is altered, and as a competitor in a tournament in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga.

Dorodabo’s key relationships are simple and hierarchical. He is utterly subservient to Lord Slug, whom he respects and fears. He works alongside fellow soldiers Angila, Medamatcha, and Commander Zeeun, though there is little development of camaraderie between them. His only significant interaction is with Piccolo, who serves as his direct opponent and eventual executioner. The character does not undergo any meaningful development. He remains a static villain, defined by his initial confidence and his desperate, failed attempt at manipulation when facing a superior enemy.

In terms of abilities, Dorodabo’s primary asset is his power of flight, granted by his large wings, a technique known as Hikou. He is a skilled martial artist with considerable superhuman strength, capable of defeating Gohan with a single blow. He can also manipulate ki, the life force energy used by the series’ fighters, to fire basic energy blasts. In the video game Dragon Ball Heroes, a specific punching technique of his is named Evil Gravity. Despite these powers, his overall combat ability is far below that of Piccolo, leading to his swift and brutal defeat.
