Description
Medamatcha is a minor antagonist from the Dragon Ball Z film Lord Slug. He is one of the three primary henchmen serving the Namekian tyrant Lord Slug, alongside Angila and Wings. Medamatcha is a short, green-skinned alien resembling a frog, with large yellow eyes, pointed ears, small horns, and red lips. He possesses long arms and short, stubby legs. He is a member of what is referred to as Slug’s Demon Clan.
Medamatcha’s personality is cold and arrogant, taking pleasure in the suffering of Earthlings. Upon arriving on Earth, he comments that the weather is warm enough to keep his toes from getting numb but cold enough to kill the local inhabitants, showing a casual cruelty. His primary motivation is to serve Lord Slug and assist in his plan to conquer Earth and gain immortality through the Dragon Balls. He is tasked with locating the Dragon Balls on Earth alongside his fellow henchmen, and he successfully finds them using a Dragon Radar.
In terms of his role in the story, Medamatcha is an obstacle for the heroes. He first engages the young Son Gohan in battle, firing a Continuous Energy Bullet multiple times until he lands a hit. He then uses his signature ability, Komedamatcha, to release small clones of himself called Medas from his body. These Medas swarm Gohan and drain his energy, wearing him down. Later, Medamatcha fires a Full Power Energy Wave at Gohan, but Piccolo sacrifices himself to shield the boy. When Son Goku arrives, Medamatcha attempts to use an absorption technique by piercing Goku with his teeth, but the attack fails. Goku quickly overpowers him, exterminates the Medas, and allows Medamatcha’s limp body to fall to the ground, dead. Medamatcha later makes a cameo appearance alongside his Medas in the film Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, when the villains escape from Hell.
Key relationships include his loyalty to Lord Slug and his partnership with Angila and Wings, with whom he coordinates attacks. He has no significant development or change throughout the film, remaining a straightforward henchman whose defeat serves to demonstrate the power of the main characters.
