TV-Series
Description
Lilium is one of the five Chief Officers of ACCA, the large civilian organization that administers the kingdom of Dowa. He represents the wealthy and resource-rich Furawau district, which is visually and culturally inspired by the Middle East. He is a dark-skinned man with brown hair and brown eyes, and he presents himself as a composed, eloquent, and outwardly friendly statesman. Beneath this polished demeanor, however, he harbors a calculating, manipulative, and ambitious nature. His primary motivation is to shift the balance of political power away from the central government and toward his own district. He believes the current system is stagnant and unfair, particularly in how resources from productive regions like Furawau are used to support a capital that produces little of its own wealth. To achieve his goals, he becomes the main force behind a rumored coup d'état. He works alongside the Chief Officer Grossular, over whom he appears to exert significant control, serving as the true architect of the conspiracy. Throughout the story, Lilium maintains a facade of cooperation with the other Chief Officers while secretly working to undermine them. He initially believes that the protagonist Jean Otus is not involved with the coup, but he later attempts to manipulate Jean into becoming a figurehead for his planned revolution. Lilium serves as the primary foil to Jean's neutrality, moving from a background manipulator to the overt antagonist of the final arc. His plans are ultimately thwarted by Jean's refusal to play the assigned role. Despite his sharp political instincts and strategic foresight, which make him one of the most effective characters in the series, his judgment is clouded by a fundamental self-interest: he ultimately prioritizes the welfare of his own district over the common good of the entire kingdom. In the later stages of the story, including the events of the OVA, Lilium works alongside Jean, Director-General Mauve, and the other Chief Officers to stop Prince Schwan from dismantling ACCA and seizing full control of Dowa, demonstrating that his political maneuvering is complex rather than purely villainous.
