Description
Chocho Akimichi is a kunoichi of Konohagakure and a member of the famed Akimichi clan. She is the only daughter of Choji Akimichi and Karui Akimichi. As part of her generation's Ino-Shika-Cho formation, she teams up with Shikadai Nara and Inojin Yamanaka under the leadership of their sensei, Moegi, forming Team 10 and carrying on a longstanding tradition of the three families.
In terms of appearance, Chocho has a robust physique typical of her clan, which she inherited from her father, alongside her mother's brown skin and amber-colored eyes. She has brown hair styled into two spiky ponytails held by pink accessories, with the rest hanging down her back. She wears a sleeveless pink or white kimono over a mesh shirt, dark arm warmers, and standard shinobi sandals, and she sports the green earrings that signify her place in the Ino-Shika-Cho trio. Her birthday is August 8.
Chocho's personality is a vibrant blend of traits from both her parents. From her father, she inherited an immense and unabashed love for food, never turning down an opportunity to eat and often choosing a meal over training or other responsibilities. However, unlike the younger Choji, who was highly sensitive about his weight, Chocho is remarkably confident and self-assured. She easily brushes off comments about her size and does not let it bother her. Instead, her attitude is more aligned with her mother's: she is outgoing, impulsive, somewhat self-centered, and believes many situations revolve around her. She is a passionate romantic and an avid fan of television dramas, often viewing her own life through a dramatic, self-aggrandizing lens. Her confidence borders on self-absorption, as she frequently assumes that impressive adults could be her "real" parents or that romantic confessions are being made to her.
Despite her dramatic and occasionally oblivious nature, Chocho is a deeply caring and loyal friend. She shares a particularly close bond with Sarada Uchiha, who is her best friend and confidante. Chocho is also on good terms with her other classmates, including Boruto Uzumaki and Mitsuki. Her motivations are often simple and immediate, driven by her appetite, her desire for an exciting love story, and her need to move at her own pace. A recurring comedic motivation is her conviction that she is adopted because she has a different complexion and a more carefree attitude than her parents, leading her to impulsively search for her "real" handsome and powerful parents.
Chocho's role in the story is primarily as a supporting character and a member of the new generation. She is a key participant in missions and arcs alongside Team 10 and her classmates. In the early narrative, she plays a significant role in the Sarada Uchiha arc, accompanying Sarada on a journey that starts as a search for Chocho's alleged biological parents but becomes a quest to find Sarada's father, Sasuke Uchiha. In this arc, her unwavering self-confidence contrasts with Sarada's anxieties, and she even offers Sasuke a bag of chips to help him reconcile with his daughter. She also participates in the Chunin Exams, demonstrating her growth as a ninja.
Throughout the series, Chocho shows notable development, primarily in her ninja abilities. As a member of the Akimichi clan, she is a prodigy of their secret techniques. While her father required special three-colored pills that carried severe side effects to perform advanced jutsu at her age, Chocho can use these abilities naturally and without risk. Even as an academy student, she could perform the Partial Multi-Size Technique. She eventually masters the Super Multi-Size Technique and the Human Bullet Tank. Her most advanced ability is the Butterfly Mode, or Super Chocho Butterfly Mode as she calls it, which converts calories into chakra to grant her a slimmer form, wings, and greatly increased power. While she initially struggled with using the technique to its full potential due to a subconscious reluctance to being thin, she later learns to perfect it. Additionally, she inherited her mother's aptitude for Lightning Release and can perform the Lightning Release: Thunderclap Fist.
