Description
Doraemon is a robotic cat from the 22nd century who has traveled back in time to help the hapless elementary school student Nobita. In this Antarctic adventure, his role as the group's technological anchor remains central. He is characterized by his kind, patient, and often parental nature, acting as the voice of reason among the children. While he frequently scolds Nobita for his lazy or reckless decisions, Doraemon is deeply loyal and protective of his friends, never truly abandoning them in a crisis. His personality is contrasted by his deep, almost childish fear of mice and his insatiable love for the Japanese sweet dorayaki, which is a consistent source of comic relief.

At the start of the film, it is Doraemon who initiates the adventure, using his secret gadgets to transport Nobita and their friends to a large iceberg to escape the intense midsummer heat of Tokyo. He introduces the Ice-Working Iron to create a playground, which inadvertently leads to Nobita discovering a mysterious golden ring frozen in the ice. Throughout the story, Doraemon serves as the primary source of problem-solving. Using his famous 4D pocket, he deploys a series of futuristic tools, including the Anywhere Door for instant travel and the Time Belt for navigating the ancient past. His most notable contribution in this film comes during the climax, where his ingenuity becomes crucial. After becoming separated from the group in time, leaving his time belt powerless, Doraemon devises a clever plan to freeze himself along with a spare battery and a gadget-filled bag. He sends this package forward through time to Nobita, ensuring his friends have the resources to return and rescue him, demonstrating self-sacrifice and strategic thinking. He also pilots a massive, flying ice-drilling vehicle, one of the most impressive gadgets in his arsenal, during the final battle against the ice giant.

His key relationships are defined by his dynamic with Nobita. Despite Nobita’s flaws, Doraemon’s bond with him is the strongest, exemplified when Nobita is able to instinctively identify the real Doraemon from a shapeshifting impostor, highlighting their deep emotional connection. He also interacts with the film's new characters, Carla and Professor Hyakkoi, as a reliable ally from the future who helps them combat the threat that froze their own planet. Throughout this specific adventure, Doraemon remains the logical anchor, though he hints at a more superstitious side by remembering a fortune-telling prediction from his sister Dorami suggesting he stay away from ice, a warning he initially dismisses with humor. The plot forces him to confront this danger directly, pushing him to evolve from a simple caretaker into a strategic hero who risks permanent freezing to save the Earth and his friends. This results in a development that underscores his willingness to endure personal harm for the sake of others, solidifying his role not just as a gadget dispenser, but as a courageous protagonist in his own right. His notable abilities include the aforementioned access to any future technology from his fourth-dimensional pocket, proficiency in time-space navigation, and a remarkable capacity for creative, life-saving engineering under pressure.
