Wasabi Mizuta

Description
Wasabi Mizuta is a Japanese voice actress born on August 4, 1974, in Aoyama, Mie Prefecture, and she is currently affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. She began her career in the mid-1990s, with early roles in anime such as Nintama Rantaro and the film Hanako-san. Her stage name, Wasabi, was given to her by senior voice actor Kenichi Ogata, as her real name is not publicly known.

Mizuta is best known for being the fourth voice actress to portray the iconic character Doraemon in the long-running anime series Doraemon. She took over the role in April 2005 from Nobuyo Ōyama, who had voiced the character for 26 years. This transition was a significant moment in anime history, and Mizuta has since defined the character for a new generation, appearing in every subsequent Doraemon television episode and theatrical film. Her filmography includes nearly all Doraemon movies from 2006 onward, such as Stand By Me Doraemon, Stand By Me Doraemon 2, Doraemon: Nobita's New Dinosaur, Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Chikyū Symphony, and Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari. Her portrayal offers a distinct interpretation of the character, often described as being more like an older brother compared to the more maternal approach of her predecessor.

Beyond her defining role as Doraemon, Mizuta has built an extensive and varied career in anime. Her notable roles include Midori in Takoyaki Mant-Man, Megumi Yagi in the Fighting Beauty Wulong series, Mailpo in Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!, and T.J. Detweiler in the Japanese dub of the American series Recess. She has also had significant roles in major franchises, such as voicing Ash's Tepig (Pokabu) in the Pokémon: Best Wishes series and the character Amande in One Piece. Her repertoire extends to video games, where she is known for voicing Popka in the Klonoa series.

Mizuta's work has been recognized within the voice acting industry. In 2010, she won the Kids/Family Award at the 4th Seiyu Awards, an annual ceremony that honors voice actors for their performances. This accolade highlighted her significant impact and popularity in roles for children's entertainment, most notably her work on Doraemon.
