Description
Doraemon is a robotic cat from the 22nd century, manufactured on September 3, 2112, at the Matsushiba Robot Factory as model MS-903. A faulty electrical bolt damaged a critical screw during production, leading to subpar performance. Originally yellow with ears, robotic mice gnawed off his ears. A subsequent failed surgery left him bald, triggering severe musophobia (fear of mice) and depression. His yellow paint washed off during this depression, revealing his current blue coloration.

Adopted by Sewashi Nobi, a descendant of Nobita Nobi, Doraemon was sent to the late 20th century. Sewashi aimed to alter his family's future financial struggles caused by Nobita's shortcomings by having Doraemon guide and support Nobita. Doraemon possesses a four-dimensional pocket on his abdomen containing over 1,900 futuristic gadgets and tools, including the Take-Copter for flight, the Anywhere Door for instantaneous travel, and the Time Machine for temporal transportation. Gadget misuse sometimes leads to unintended consequences.

Doraemon exhibits distinct personality traits: deep loyalty and protectiveness toward Nobita, though he becomes easily flustered during emergencies, often fumbling with gadgets. He has a profound fondness for dorayaki (sweet bean-paste buns) that can influence his decisions. Despite being robotic, he forms emotional bonds, displaying jealousy in romantic situations—especially regarding the cat Noramyako—and deep affection for his sister, Dorami. A recurring gag involves intense reactions when mistaken for a raccoon dog due to his earless appearance.

In *Nobita's New Dinosaur*, Doraemon assists Nobita in caring for twin dinosaurs, Kyu and Myu, hatched from a fossilized egg. He provides gadgets such as the Time Wrapping Cloth to revive the egg, the Breeding Diorama Set to house the growing dinosaurs, and the Spatial Movement Crayon to relocate them. When the dinosaurs outgrow Nobita's home, Doraemon facilitates their return to the Late Cretaceous period using the Time Machine. During this journey, he confronts temporal disruptions caused by a meteorite impact and intervenes with tools like the Opposite Direction Machine to mitigate extinction threats, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to preserving life.

Doraemon's relationships extend beyond Nobita. He shares a supportive dynamic with Shizuka Minamoto and displays tolerance toward the bullying Takeshi "Gian" Goda and Suneo Honekawa, often mediating group conflicts. His role blends familial responsibility—acting as an unofficial member of the Nobi household—with mentorship, striving to instill resilience in Nobita while navigating ethical dilemmas posed by futuristic technology.
