Description
Debito is a main character from the anime La storia della Arcana Famiglia, where he serves as the Head of the Coins, one of the organization's primary divisions. He is a young man of 23 years, with a tall and lean build. Debito has a distinctive appearance characterized by his silvery-gray hair, often worn slicked back, and his single visible brown eye, as his right eye is always covered by a black eyepatch. His skin is notably tanned. He typically dresses in a sharp black suit with white flame-like designs on the lapels, a white undershirt, a purple tie, and black fingerless gloves, an outfit that complements his dangerous yet refined aura.

Debito's past is marked by tragedy. He lost his parents to illness at a very young age. Following this, he and his close friend Luca went to live with Pace and Pace's mother at a church. The three boys formed a strong childhood bond there. Their lives were forever altered when they were subjected to experiments by a fellow Family member, Jolly. These experiments were designed to forcibly create contracts with the Arcana Tarocchi. In order to stabilize his granted power and prevent it from going berserk, Debito's right eye was removed and replaced with an artificial amethyst, which he conceals under his eyepatch. This artificial eye continues to cause him great pain.

In terms of personality, Debito is a complex and often contradictory individual. On the surface, he presents himself as carefree, cheeky, and a self-indulgent womanizer. He enjoys flirting, particularly with the heroine Felicità, whom he affectionately calls Bambina, or little girl. He is also an inveterate gambler who loves the thrill of games and observing his opponents, a trait that makes him skilled at his job. He hates being controlled or tied down and has a reputation for being as unpredictable and moody as a cat. He frequently teases his childhood friends, Luca and Pace, finding great amusement in annoying them, especially when it comes to their interactions with Felicità. Despite his frivolous and sometimes menacing exterior, Debito possesses an unexpectedly kind and gentle side. He is genuinely good with children, a fact noted by his friends, and has a caring nature that he often hides behind his teasing. However, he is also prone to dark mood swings and can become genuinely frightening and destructive when enraged, a consequence of his traumatic past.

Debito's primary motivation within the story is his deep-seated hatred for Jolly. The experiments Jolly conducted on him and his friends have left him with not only physical scars but also nightly nightmares, and he is determined to kill Jolly during the Arcana Duello, the competition that serves as the central event of the series. His role in the story is as one of the leaders within the Arcana Famiglia, specifically controlling the economic affairs of the island of Regalo through his position in the Coin division at the casino Isis Regalo. He is also one of Felicità's potential partners, and his interactions with her reveal his more vulnerable and sincere side.

Debito's key relationships are defined by history and rivalry. He forms a trio with Pace and Luca, their bond forged in childhood. While he constantly mocks and bickers with them, the relationship is built on profound trust and brotherly affection. His attitude toward Felicità is flirtatious and possessive, but he treats her with respect and his actions consistently prove he values her safety above all else. In contrast, his relationship with Jolly is one of pure animosity; he holds the strongest grudge against the man among his friends. On the day of the Arcana Duello, Debito faces and defeats Jolly in the semi-finals, overcoming his tormentor's attempts to trap him in illusions.

Throughout the narrative, Debito undergoes significant development, largely tied to Felicità's influence. Initially, he keeps others at a distance, his past making him gloomy and prone to disappearing for long periods. His confrontations with Felicità force him to confront his own darkness and his desperate need for revenge. After being gravely wounded in the amethyst eye by an unexpected attack, he is saved through Felicità's intervention. When his damaged artificial eye is replaced with a peridot, he notes that its new color matches Felicità's eyes, symbolizing her impact on his life. In the final match of the Duello, he faces Felicità and loses, accepting his defeat with a smile.

Debito possesses notable abilities that make him a formidable member of the Family. He made a contract with the ninth tarot card, the Hermit, which grants him the power to turn himself invisible. His Arcana mark is located on his left ankle. Beyond his supernatural power, Debito is an expert marksman with exceptional aim. He wields twin pistols with ambidextrous proficiency, a skill he demonstrates when he effortlessly disarms multiple opponents without causing collateral injury.
