TV-Series
Description
Akira Shiodome is a minor character in the later segments of the narrative, appearing as the youngest child of Akari Sakishima and Itaru Shiodome. Born two years after the Ofunehiki, Akira is the half-brother of Miuna Shiodome and the nephew of Hikari Sakishima. As a four-year-old boy, he has black hair and light grey-blue eyes, and his typical outfit consists of a blue sweater with a yellow stripe, blue pants, and yellow sneakers.

In terms of personality, Akira is portrayed as a shy and timid young child, though he also has a mischievous and energetic side. He is described as being quite mysterious, and notably, he only listens to his older half-sister, Miuna, acting as a loyal follower in her eyes. His current passion is playing the prank game kancho, with Chisaki Hiradaira often being his primary target. Despite his shyness, he takes a liking to Manaka Mukaido and enjoys playing with her after she awakens from her long sleep.

Akira's primary role in the story is a minor one, serving to highlight the passage of time and the new bonds formed between the surface and sea communities following the main conflict. He is also the catalyst for a significant moment in Manaka's character arc. He writes a love letter to her in kindergarten, confessing that he likes her. Manaka, who has lost the ability to love due to a sacrifice made to the Sea God, does not understand his feelings and is deeply troubled by the letter, running away in confusion. This event forces Manaka to confront the void within herself. After she rejects his confession due to her condition, Akira lacks confidence, but once Manaka thanks him for his feelings, he gains the courage he needs.

His key relationship is with his half-sister, Miuna, whom he trusts and obeys completely. He also shares a playful bond with his uncle, Hikari Sakishima, and their friend Shun Sayama, with whom he enjoys playing kancho. His attachment to Manaka is another notable relationship, though it is from the perspective of a young child with a simple crush.

Akira does not undergo significant development himself, but his birth and actions influence others. A notable development occurs in the epilogue, where it is shown that Akira, like his half-sister Miuna, has developed Ena, the scale-like layer on the skin that allows sea people to breathe underwater, signifying his connection to his family's heritage from the sea village. He possesses no other notable abilities beyond this biological trait.
