Description
Mimirin Midorihara is a white rabbit girl and one of the four main characters in the anime series Hakken Taiken Daisuki! Shimajirō. She lives with her parents, who run a flower shop in Challenge Island. Her mother is a florist and works alongside her father, both of whom are kind and supportive. Mimirin is the only child among the main cast after the departure of Ramurin, though she later gains a new friend in Nyakkii. Her full name is Midorihara Mimirin, and she is sometimes referred to as Mimi-Lynne in English adaptations.
Mimirin has a sweet and bright personality, but she is also notably clumsy, spoiled, and prone to crying when things do not go her way. She can be selfish at times, but these traits are tempered by a genuine warmth and a desire to get along with everyone. Despite her timid nature, she can display surprising bravery when her friends need her. She also has a stubborn streak that occasionally leads to minor conflicts, but she usually learns from her mistakes. Her emotions are very visible, and she cries easily, which is a recurring aspect of her character.
Her motivations are shaped by her love for cute and beautiful things. She dreams of becoming a princess, an idol, a nurse, or a flower shop owner like her parents. She has a wide range of interests and aspirations, reflecting her imaginative and hopeful outlook. Her favorite foods include strawberry shortcake, and she enjoys drawing, playing the piano, and singing. She is also very fond of dolls and anything adorable.
In the story, Mimirin serves as one of Shimajiro’s closest friends and classmates. Together with Torippi and later Nyakkii, they form the core group of children who explore, learn, and face everyday challenges in their preschool years. Her role often involves emotional situations, as her reactions help teach lessons about managing feelings, sharing, and overcoming fears. She is a key part of the group’s dynamic, providing a contrast to the more adventurous Shimajiro and the playful Torippi.
Her relationships are central to her development. She is deeply attached to her parents and often seeks their comfort. She shares a strong friendship with Shimajiro, who helps her face difficult situations, and with Torippi, whose lighthearted nature balances her sensitivity. When Ramurin moved away, Mimirin received a ribbon from her as a keepsake, which she still wears, showing her loyalty and attachment to her friends. She also interacts warmly with Nyakkii after the latter joins the group.
Over the course of the series, Mimirin’s appearance has evolved. In earlier episodes she wore a yellow shirt with a red pinafore dress and a flower in her ear. Later her outfit changed to a pink puff-sleeved blouse with a blue skirt, and eventually to a gray dress with a pink cardigan, a blue ribbon on her ear, and pink Mary Jane shoes. These visual updates reflect the passage of time within the series and her steady growth as a character.
Notable abilities include her speed: she is an excellent runner and aspires to become a track athlete. She also enjoys singing and music, and she has a talent for drawing. However, she is afraid of swimming, which is a weakness she occasionally works to overcome. Her emotional vulnerability is not a flaw but part of her charm, and her journey includes learning to be more resilient and considerate of others.
