OVA
Description
Princess Kahm is the crown princess of the Santovasku Empire, a technologically advanced interstellar civilization, and the only child of Emperor Quevas, which places her next in line for the imperial throne. She is a young alien woman with blonde hair and small horns that mark her as a member of the Santovasku royal family. Kahm first appears during the empire's invasion of Earth, having come to the planet out of curiosity about the cleansing operation rather than purely military duty, and she takes part in the assault on the surface with her sword.
Her first encounter with the human news photographer Tetsuya Wakatsuki is hostile. She attacks him as an enemy, loses her sword during their struggle, and later returns to reclaim it. Over time, this combative meeting develops into genuine affection, and Kahm decides that she wants Tetsuya as her husband. She proposes their marriage as a diplomatic alliance that could end the war between humanity and her father's empire, a plan she presents when the two travel to the imperial home world. When Emperor Quevas rejects the idea, sentences Tetsuya to death, and places Kahm under house arrest, she escapes with the help of her allies and openly rebels against the empire in order to protect Tetsuya and prevent the destruction of Earth.
In personality, Kahm defies the expectations of her royal upbringing. She is more of a tomboy than a pampered princess and resents the strict rules and protocol of Santovasku court society. She is deeply curious, impulsive, reckless, and sometimes irresponsible, and she can throw a tantrum when she does not get her way. She also resists her father's plans to arrange her marriage for the sake of producing a royal heir and frequently tries to escape the weight of her responsibilities as princess. Beneath this willful exterior, she is genuinely loyal and truly loves Tetsuya, and she is willing to go to great lengths, including confronting her own father in a duel of sorcery, to save and protect him.
Kahm's role in the story is central. Her encounter with Tetsuya sets the larger conflict in motion, and her decision to defy her father turns her into the driving force behind an alliance of humans, Santovasku rebels, and other factions who oppose both the empire and the ancient Yoma threat. She is supported by Battia Bureitin Rou, a Santovasku fleet commander and her best friend, and by Nao and the rest of the Nuba Tribe, her loyal personal servants. She also develops a complicated relationship with the scavenger Raisa Vogel, who begins as a rival but eventually joins the rebel cause. Her most significant relationship is with Tetsuya, which evolves from initial hostility to a strategic engagement and finally to a genuine marriage. Over the course of the story, Kahm grows from a reckless, runaway princess into a determined leader who commits herself fully to both her love for Tetsuya and the fight to end the war. After the conflict, the two settle down together and raise a family.
As a member of the Santovasku royal house, Kahm possesses considerable abilities. She is a highly skilled swordswoman capable of fighting through trained soldiers in hand-to-hand combat, and she has enhanced physical strength, speed, and agility. She also commands sorcerous powers that include blasts of lightning and flame, the ability to create illusions, and protective magical barriers. One of her most notable talents is the Incantation of Reincarnation, a powerful restorative ritual that can bring a person back from the brink of death. These abilities, combined with her courage and stubbornness, allow her to stand as a formidable warrior and as one of the key figures who works to build a new future after the devastating war.
