ONA
Description
Hyoga is the Bronze Saint of the Cygnus constellation, distinguished as the only member of the core group of Bronze Saints not born in Japan, with his homeland being Russia. He is a young man of striking appearance, characterized by his blond hair and blue eyes, which he inherited from his Russian heritage.

His background is defined by a profound personal tragedy. As a young child, he was traveling with his mother, Natassia, when their ship caught fire and sank in the icy waters of Siberia. Natassia sacrificed her own place on a lifeboat to save Hyoga, and her body was preserved in the frozen depths alongside the wreckage. This event became the central motivation of his early life. Hyoga was later taken in by the Graad Foundation, the organization run by his Japanese father, Mitsumasa Kido, and was sent to Siberia to train as a Saint. His ultimate goal was to gain the power necessary to break the thick ice and visit his mother's resting place at the bottom of the sea.

Hyoga's personality is notably complex. He initially presents himself as cold, rational, and emotionally distant, a demeanor instilled by his master to suppress feelings that could be a liability in battle. He can appear arrogant and indifferent, particularly toward his half-brothers and the mission to protect Athena. However, this icy exterior conceals a deep well of passion, loyalty, and compassion. His perspective begins to change after witnessing the selfless bonds formed between the other Bronze Saints, such as Seiya and Shiryu, who fight not for personal gain but for each other. Throughout the series, he learns that his emotions, rather than being a weakness, are a source of immense strength.

In the overall narrative, Hyoga is one of the five core Bronze Saints sworn to protect Athena. His role is often that of a powerful and strategic fighter whose cryokinetic abilities are crucial against formidable enemies. One of his most significant relationships is with his master, Camus of Aquarius, the Gold Saint who trained him in the art of freezing techniques. Their relationship is a central pillar of his development, representing the conflict between emotional detachment and heartfelt conviction. Another key relationship is with his fellow trainee, Isaak, who lost an eye saving Hyoga during a training accident and later became a Mariner General under Poseidon, forcing Hyoga to confront his past guilt. He also shares a profound bond with Shun of Andromeda, who nearly sacrificed his own life to revive Hyoga with his Cosmo after the young Swan Saint was frozen solid. Hyoga never forgets this debt.

Hyoga undergoes significant development throughout the series. In the Sanctuary arc, he faces Camus, who, in an attempt to make Hyoga stronger, sinks his mother's ship even deeper. This cruel act forces Hyoga to transcend his personal attachments and reach a new level of power. Their final battle in the Aquarius Temple is a master-disciple duel where Hyoga masters the ultimate technique, Aurora Execution, achieving the Absolute Zero temperature of -273.15 degrees Celsius, surpassing his teacher at the cost of Camus's life. This event marks his emotional and martial maturity. Later, during the Poseidon arc, he further sheds his emotional burdens by sacrificing his own right eye to settle the debt with Isaak, symbolizing his acceptance of past pain and his resolve as a warrior. In the final Hades arc, his Cygnus Cloth evolves into a divine God Cloth, and prophecies in sequel works indicate he is destined to become the future Gold Saint of Aquarius, succeeding his beloved master.

As a fighter, Hyoga is a master of cryokinesis, using his Cosmo to lower the temperature of the air around him to absolute zero. His signature techniques include Diamond Dust, a basic but effective attack that releases a blast of freezing crystals. The Aurora Thunder Attack is a more powerful variation that launches a massive wave of ice. His most powerful technique, inherited from Camus, is the Aurora Execution, a devastating attack delivered with his arms positioned to resemble the water jar of Aquarius, capable of freezing anything to its core. He is also capable of defensive maneuvers, such as creating a Freezing Coffin, a nearly unbreakable prison of ice, and is known for his resilience and ability to overcome opponents far above his rank.
