TV-Series
Description
Lulu, also known as Lulu Watari, is a character from Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody. She is a former princess of the Kubooku Kingdom, born with black hair and blue eyes due to her great-grandfather being Japanese. In the world of the series, these features are considered unattractive by local beauty standards, a perception that causes her to be treated harshly and regarded as ugly. This leads her to develop a shy, soft-spoken, and deeply insecure personality, marked by low self-esteem from years of discrimination. She is initially found as a slave together with her younger half-sister, Arisa, and is purchased by Satou Pendragon, the protagonist. Satou’s genuine compliment that she is beautiful is a turning point for her, fostering a quiet and loyal devotion to him.

Her primary motivation is to be useful to Satou and her new companions, as well as to protect the fragile sense of belonging she finds in his party. She harbors a deep desire to overcome her insecurities and prove her worth. In the story, Lulu serves as a support member of Satou’s traveling group. She takes on the role of a master chef, preparing meals that are highly praised, and also becomes a proficient sniper, using enchanted firearms provided by Satou to engage enemies from a distance. Her role grows from a rescued slave into a trusted and capable member of the team.

Lulu’s most important relationship is with Satou, whom she views as both a savior and a figure of admiration. She shares a close bond with her sister Arisa, who is more outgoing and often takes a protective, teasing stance toward her. She also forms supportive friendships with the other demi-human girls in the party, including Pochi, Tama, and Liza, frequently assisting Liza in managing the younger members. Her development over the series centers on self-acceptance and healing. Through Satou’s encouragement and the kindness of her new family, she gradually overcomes her trauma, learns to take pride in her unique appearance and skills, and gains confidence in her abilities.

Notable abilities include exceptional culinary talent, which she hones and uses to maintain the party’s morale and health. She is a skilled marksman with firearms, able to deliver precise ranged attacks in combat. She also possesses a gentle, calming presence that helps soothe tense situations among the group. Her role expands further in the spin-off manga Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Koufukukyoku, which focuses on her cooking adventures.
