Description
Makoto Mikasa is a high school student and classmate of Yuu Haruna and Fuuka Akitsuki. He has a mixed heritage of British, German, and Japanese descent. Makoto is notably handsome, which makes him popular and well-liked among his peers at school. Despite this social popularity, he is openly homosexual and has no romantic interest in the girls who admire him.

His personality is calm and empathetic, and he possesses a poetic way of expressing himself, often using metaphors. He is one of the most level-headed and observant members of his social circle. Makoto shows strong emotional intelligence and uses his understanding of others to help his friends, notably helping Yuu Haruna better understand certain qualities of Fuuka Akitsuki.

Makoto comes from a wealthy family with high expectations. His father disapproves of his interest in music, preferring that he follow a more conventional path, and after a major tragedy in the story, his father even pressures him to transfer schools to hide his sexual orientation. Nevertheless, Makoto is committed to his passion for music. He is a talented pianist who began classical training in childhood and won the junior division of an international piano competition. He serves as the keyboardist for the band initially known as The Fallen Moon, later called Blue Wells, and uses a Roland RD-300NX keyboard. His musical skills and dedication eventually earn his father's acknowledgement.

Within the band, Makoto acts as a stabilizing force, providing emotional support and thoughtful advice to his bandmates, especially Yuu Haruna. He builds close friendships not only with Yuu but also with Fuuka Akitsuki, Kazuya Nachi, Sara Iwami, and later Fuuka Aoi. His bond with Fuuka Akitsuki is particularly strong, though entirely platonic.

Over the course of the story, Makoto's personal arc centers on his struggle for independence from his family's conservative expectations. He faces pressure to hide his identity but ultimately chooses to pursue music and live honestly. In a later development, he confesses his feelings to his former teacher, Tomomi, marking a significant step in his personal growth. His abilities as a musician and his courage to follow his passions make him an inspiring figure, embodying loyalty and the pursuit of one's true self.
