Description
Coraly is a character from the anime Love Tyrant who serves as a celestial being and the direct superior of the cupid Guri in the heavenly realm. As an angel, his primary responsibility is to oversee the functions of the Kiss Note and ensure that his subordinate, Guri, carries out her duties of forming romantic couples on Earth.

Coraly possesses a personality marked by a strong sense of self-importance and pride in his status as an elite divine official. He frequently looks down upon tasks he considers beneath his standing, often referring to lower-priority assignments as bottom-of-the-barrel work. This attitude has unfortunately earned him a poor reputation among other characters, who generally do not hold a favorable opinion of him. Despite this arrogance, he is genuinely concerned with the proper procedure of his job, showing up to provide guidance and directives to the main characters when the situation demands it.

In terms of physical description, Coraly is most notable for his highly distinctive and dramatic facial features. His appearance is so intense and unusual that most people who see him are shocked, startled, or even find him frightening to look at. This striking trait follows him to Earth, where he is forced to assume a physical form by borrowing the body of the Aino family's pet cat, a blue-furred feline named Blue. While possessing the cat, his human face remains fully visible on the animal's body, creating a bizarre and unsettling human-faced cat appearance that other characters often find creepy, though Coraly himself seems to believe his beauty is too powerful for humans to comprehend.

Coraly's role in the story is that of a supervisor and authority figure who descends from Heaven to interact with the protagonists. He is the one who explains the rules and consequences of the Kiss Note to the main character Seiji Aino, making it clear that Seiji must support Guri in her mission, or else face severe repercussions such as his soul disappearing. He is the character to whom Guri and Seiji report their progress and failures. He appears sporadically to check on the situation, offer commentary, and sometimes facilitate the plot by providing important information or means of travel. He is also responsible for bestowing Guri with her angelic tools and is familiar with other celestial and infernal beings.

Regarding key relationships, Coraly's most significant connection is with his subordinate Guri. He often expresses frustration with her chaotic and pleasure-seeking methods, particularly her habit of creating male same-sex couples simply because it suits her interests, but he ultimately trusts Seiji and the others to help her complete her assignments. His relationship with Seiji Aino is more formal, as he looks to Seiji as a reliable human partner to keep Guri on track. He interacts with other members of the cast, including Yuzu and Akua, but primarily as an extension of his oversight of Guri's work.

As for development, Coraly is a consistent presence who mainly serves a functional and comedic purpose. One of the running jokes of the series involves his appearance, and this culminates in a notable moment in the final episode. To help Seiji and Yuzu travel to Hell to rescue Guri, Coraly attempts to show his third and final angelic form. The form is never actually shown to the audience, but its sheer beauty or horror is said to be so overwhelming that the mere sight of it kills Seiji and Yuzu instantly, allowing their souls to travel to the underworld. This event serves as the ultimate punchline to the recurring gag about his inexplicable and powerful appearance.

Coraly also demonstrates notable abilities typical of an angel. He can freely travel between Heaven and Earth, possess the body of a cat to manifest in the human world, and transform into different angelic forms. His most powerful transformation, his final form, is said to possess energy so intense that it is lethal for humans to witness. In the finale, he also guides the deceased protagonists through a pipe into Hell, showing a capacity to navigate different realms. Despite his comic relief status, he remains a crucial figure for establishing the heavenly rules that drive the plot of Love Tyrant.
