Description
Moriya Tsutsumi is a supporting character in the science-fiction series Atom: The Beginning. He is introduced as a genius scientist and researcher who studies robotics, often described as a mysterious child prodigy. He is the older brother of Motoko Tsutsumi, a fellow researcher. Moriya is portrayed as a rival to the main characters Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu, with his own strong ambitions in robot development. He has a reserved and serious demeanor, preferring to work alone and focusing intensely on his projects. His analytical, methodical approach to his work sets him apart from his more collaborative peers. Moriya possesses exceptional technical skill; he built his own enhanced wheelchair, demonstrating his advanced understanding of mechanics and engineering. A notable ability of his is a talent for disguise, as he occasionally adopts a female persona to operate incognito, a fact known only to a few individuals including Hiroshi and an acquaintance named Bremner. His motivations are rooted in a desire to push the boundaries of robotics, but his competitive nature and secretive methods place him at odds with Tenma and Ochanomizu. Throughout the story, Moriya’s actions carry significant implications for the development of artificial intelligence and the events surrounding the robot A106. His relationships are marked by rivalry with the main duo and a protective bond with his sister, though he remains an enigmatic figure whose true objectives are not always immediately clear.
