Description
Chinatsu Nishio is a third-year middle school student and a supporting character in the story. She is a member of the school's track and field team, where she specializes in sprinting and is known for her athleticism and competitive drive. Her close friends on the team include Akane Mizuno and Aoi Takizawa, forming a well-known trio within their grade.
In terms of personality, Chinatsu is cheerful, outgoing, and energetic. She has an innocent and friendly nature that makes it easy for her to get along with anyone, contributing to her popularity with both boys and girls at school. While she can sometimes feel a playful envy towards what others have, this trait is never portrayed as malicious. Her lively and spirited demeanor is a defining characteristic, contrasting with the more reserved personalities of the main protagonists.
Chinatsu's primary role in the story is as a close friend to Akane Mizuno. However, her character arc introduces a significant conflict when she develops romantic feelings for Kotaro Azumi, who is already in a relationship with Akane. Aware of their relationship, Chinatsu nevertheless finds herself drawn to Kotaro. This leads to moments of internal struggle as she navigates her own desires while trying to remain a supportive friend. Her feelings come to the forefront during a group trip to an amusement park, where witnessing Kotaro publicly assert his relationship with Akane visibly upsets her.
Chinatsu's development throughout the series centers on her coming to terms with this unrequited love. In a key moment of maturity, she confesses her feelings to Kotaro directly after learning she has been accepted to the same high school as him. He rejects her gently but clearly, allowing her to find closure and move on from that chapter of her emotions. Despite the romantic tension, her actions also serve a pivotal role in the main love story when she shows Akane a story Kotaro had written about his feelings for her, helping to solidify the couple's bond at a critical moment. Notably, Chinatsu excels in sprinting as her primary ability and is a dedicated member of the track team.
