Description
Kirsch Vermillion is a nobleman belonging to the House Vermillion, one of the royal families of the Clover Kingdom. He holds the rank of 1st Class Senior Magic Knight and serves as the vice-captain of the Coral Peacock squad of the Magic Knights.

Kirsch is a young man with a tall and slender build. He is deeply invested in aesthetics, believing that magic is power and therefore beauty, and that training is for the weak. He is exceptionally dramatic and vain, often praising his own looks and criticizing anything he deems unsightly, including muscular physiques like Astas, which he feels disrupt the natural beauty of the body. He initially looks down upon those of lower birth and is visibly disgusted when addressed informally by someone of a lower social status. Despite this excessive and often off-putting behavior, Kirsch is a highly competent and effective leader. He performs most of the administrative and operational duties for the Coral Peacocks due to his captain, Dorothy Unsworth, being perpetually asleep, making him widely regarded as the individual closest to becoming the next captain.

Kirschs primary motivation is driven by his philosophy of beauty, which he initially equates with noble blood and immense magical power. He seeks to demonstrate his superiority and beauty in all his actions, particularly in combat. His role in the story becomes prominent during the Royal Knights Selection Exam, where he is placed on a team with Magna Swing and Sol Marron. In this exam, he clashes directly with Asta, whom he initially considers the ugliest of filth. His defeat at the hands of Asta and Zora Ideale, both commoners, forces him to confront his prejudices. Following this loss, Kirsch undergoes significant development; he cuts his long hair short as a symbolic gesture of discarding his arrogance. His sister, Mimosa Vermillion, helps him understand that his willingness to acknowledge the power of commoners and continue fighting despite being dirtied was the most beautiful he had ever been.

Key relationships define his arc. He is the older brother of Mimosa Vermillion, who often finds his narcissistic behavior embarrassing and wishes he would disappear. Despite her annoyance, they care for each other as family, and Mimosa plays a crucial role in his personal growth. Kirsch is also a cousin to other prominent royals such as Fuegoleon and Mereoleona Vermillion, as well as Nozel and Noelle Silva. His interactions with Asta evolve from pure disgust to a grudging acknowledgment of the boys power, even if he still finds it fundamentally ugly.

Kirschs notable abilities stem from his Cherry Blossom Magic, an attribute that allows him to generate and manipulate countless cherry blossom petals. He possesses an immense amount of mana, typical of a royal, which enables him to cover an entire battlefield in a blizzard of petals. This spell, known as the Fierce Cherry Blossom Blizzard, obstructs enemy vision and mana detection while he creates beautiful clones of himself from the petals to confuse opponents. He also possesses highly refined mana sensory skills, allowing him to accurately pinpoint the locations of others over a wide area. During the Royal Knights exam, he demonstrates strategic thinking by using his magic to create safe, invisible paths for his allies to reach the enemys crystal. His grimoire contains several spells, including the Nayuta Beautiful Blade Cherry Dance, which unleashes countless petals to cut his opponents. After his character development, he continues to serve as a powerful Magic Knight, participating in major battles such as the fight against the elves and the defense of the Clover Kingdom from demons from the Spade Kingdom.
