Description
Fyodor D. is a prominent antagonist in Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple. He is a tall, slim young man with long, messy black hair that reaches his shoulders and sharp, dark purple eyes that often give him a tired appearance. His typical attire consists of a white buttoned shirt and pants, accompanied by a long black coat with white fur trim and a distinctive ushanka hat, which is a traditional Russian fur cap. He also wears red, knee-length boots over his white pants.

Very little is known about Fyodor's past, even the origin of his motivations remains largely a mystery. It is noted that he has lived for a long time, potentially due to his ability. One of the few known events from his past is that he was once abducted by the vampire Bram Stoker, an incident from which he managed to escape by taking control of a guard's body. By the time of the Dragon's Head Conflict, which took place six years before the main events of Dead Apple, he was already an active figure, observing the violent struggle between the Port Mafia and the ability user Tatsuhiko Shibusawa from a distance and remarking that he found it entertaining. This observation later evolved into a direct collaboration. Fyodor allied himself with Tatsuhiko Shibusawa, a man known as the Collector, helping him with an operation to gather numerous abilities by transforming them into crystalline gems. He also aided Shibusawa in recovering his lost memories, a step that was necessary for Shibusawa to unleash his full power. However, Fyodor's alliance was not one of genuine friendship. He was secretly working alongside Osamu Dazai, with the two of them planning to eliminate Shibusawa once he had served his purpose. In Shibusawa's own collection room, Fyodor retrieved two specific ability crystals and handed them to Dazai, who used his own nullification ability on them. Shortly after, when Shibusawa stabbed Dazai with a poisoned knife, Fyodor revealed his betrayal by cutting Shibusawa's throat, informing the Collector that he had actually been dead for a long time. Fyodor's true aim in this scheme was to create a massive singularity, an imbalance of power, which manifested as a colossal dragon. His ultimate goal, which he mentions as he departs after Shibusawa is defeated, is to acquire a legendary and powerful object known as the Book.

Fyodor is known for his calm and confident personality, often displaying a sinister intelligence and a profound sense of arrogance so extreme that he refers to himself as a god. He is a deeply religious individual who frequently speaks about the sinful nature of humanity. His actions are driven by the belief that the world must be cleansed of sinners, which in his view includes all ability users, and he seeks to use the Book to create a world without such powers. His intellect is legendary, considered to be on par with that of Osamu Dazai, and he is called a demon or a fiend by both Dazai and law enforcement agencies. He suffers from anemia and has a noticeably weak constitution, which contributes to his pale and somewhat sickly appearance.

His most notable ability, true to the literary source material of his namesake, is named Crime and Punishment. The exact nature of this ability is complex. During the events of Dead Apple, it is shown that he is entirely immune to the effects of the strange fog created by Shibusawa. While other ability users were attacked by their own powers, Fyodor's ability phantom does not turn on him. Instead, it walks beside him, with Fyodor stating that crime and punishment are close friends. This demonstrates a unique synergy where he and his ability are either separate entities sharing a consciousness or are capable of recombining at will. He describes his ability with the phrases I am a sin and I am a punishment, suggesting that his very existence is intertwined with his power. In Dead Apple, he uses his influence and intelligence to manipulate Shibusawa and Dazai, proving that his most dangerous weapon may be his mind rather than outright force. Following the climax of the film, Fyodor leaves the destruction behind, mentioning that he must now find another way to obtain the Book, hinting that he will continue to be a major threat in the future.
