Description
Melascula is a member of the Ten Commandments, an elite group of warriors serving directly under the Demon King. She bears the commandment of Faith, which punishes those who show faithlessness in her presence by setting their eyes ablaze. Her title is Melascula the Faith. As a demon, she is over three thousand years old, though her biological age is approximately 362 years. She was born in the Demon Realm on October 10th. Her human-like form stands 154 centimeters tall and weighs 43 kilograms, with pink hair that reaches her waist and straight bangs hanging over her eyebrows. In this form, she typically wears a white, form-fitting bodysuit with a pink ribbon at the collar and long pink stockings.

Her origin is unique among the Ten Commandments, as she was not originally a demon in a humanoid shape. Melascula began her existence as a small, ordinary poisonous snake living in the Demon Realm. Over the course of three hundred years, she absorbed the dense miasma of that realm, which gradually granted her consciousness, magical power, and the ability to take on a human form. Her true appearance is that of a giant, hooded serpent of immense size. She prefers to maintain her human-like guise and dislikes her original form, considering it unattractive.

In terms of personality, Melascula is typically calm, analytical, and cool-headed. She observes situations with logic and is often the voice of reason among her comrades, frequently reprimanding the more impulsive Galand for his reckless actions. She is capable of swiftly deducing an opponent's weaknesses and strategic disadvantages. Despite this composed exterior, she holds a deep-seated arrogance common to many demons, viewing other races, particularly humans, as inferior. This overconfidence frequently leads her to underestimate her enemies, a flaw that results in several of her defeats. She also has a notable fondness for alcohol, and when intoxicated, her demeanor shifts dramatically, becoming playful, talkative, and far less guarded. When angered or frustrated, especially when her plans fail, she can display a childish, tantrum-like fury, often accompanied by her tongue lashing out involuntarily, revealing her serpentine nature.

Melascula is a master of magic focused on souls, death, and resurrection, rather than a frontline physical fighter. Her magical power is rated at 31,500, bringing her total combat class to 34,000. One of her primary abilities is the Hell Gate, a power that allows her to create portals. Through these portals, she can summon lesser demons to do her bidding. Her most signature skill is the manipulation of souls. She can recite a demonic incantation to forcibly extract the soul from a living being's body, which she can then consume to restore her own strength. She also possesses a forbidden spell known as the Law of Grudge Revival. This technique amplifies the lingering regrets and negative emotions of the dead, forcibly resurrecting them as reanimated beings driven by rage. While in this state, these resurrected individuals have enhanced abilities, but if they manage to overcome their resentment, they will vanish. She can further strengthen these reanimated soldiers by feeding them additional negative energy. For direct combat and defense, she uses a versatile black substance that emanates from her body. She can shape this matter into weapons, shields, or wings for flight. One of her primary offensive techniques is the Cocoon of Darkness, where she envelops an opponent in a sphere of darkness to trap them and extract their soul.

In the events of the series, after being freed from a three-thousand-year seal, Melascula partners with her fellow commandment, Galand. Together, they pursue the Seven Deadly Sins. She demonstrates her power by resurrecting the fairy Elaine, manipulating her love for Ban into a jealous obsession. She and Galand eventually track their quarry to a bar owned by Escanor. While waiting, both demons indulge in the bar's alcohol and become intoxicated. At sunrise, they confront Escanor in his vastly more powerful day form. Melascula watches in horror as Escanor effortlessly defeats Galand, causing him to break his own commandment's rule and turn to stone. Enraged, she traps Escanor in her Cocoon of Darkness and consumes his soul. However, the immense heat of Escanor's magical power, Sunshine, burns her from the inside out, charring her body and forcing her to retreat.

Later, after being healed by the Drop of Life from Gloxinia, Melascula seeks revenge. She attempts to extract the soul of a weakened Meliodas. Just as she is about to succeed, Ban ambushes her. In a swift attack, Ban breaks her neck and uses his Fox Hunt technique to rip out five of her seven hearts, neutralizing her and leaving her for dead. Despite these grievous injuries, she survives. She later appears again, having regained some power, and confronts the Seven Deadly Sins once more. She captures Meliodas in her cocoon, using his own rampaging power to fuel an army of skeleton soldiers. When this strategy fails, she finally reveals her true form: the giant, monstrous serpent. In this state, she possesses immense physical strength and can secrete corrosive venom potent enough to melt nearly anything. Despite this, she is ultimately defeated and reverted to her original, powerless tiny snake form, later being captured as a研究对象 by Merlin. Her persistent desire to prove the superiority of demons and her ruthless methods define her role as a recurring and formidable antagonist.
