Description
Emanuela Ionica is a Romanian-born voice actress who lives and works primarily in Italy, where she is known for dubbing roles for both live-action and animated productions. It is important to clarify that she is the Italian dubbing voice for numerous anime characters, rather than the original Japanese voice actor. Her work has made her a prominent figure in the Italian voice acting industry.

Ionica was born Emanuela Gabriela Ionică in Iași, Romania, on May 15, 1997. Her family moved to Rome, Italy, when she was three years old. She began her career in voice acting at the age of nine after taking a course called "Lavorare con la voce" (Working with the Voice) at Studi Titania. Her younger siblings, Giorgia and Valentino, are also voice actors.

She gained widespread recognition in Italy starting in 2012 for voicing the title character in the teen telenovela Violetta. This role led to her becoming the primary Italian voice for a number of prominent young actresses, including Zendaya, Elle Fanning, Joey King, and Hailee Steinfeld.

Her extensive work in dubbing anime and animated films includes providing the Italian voice for a wide array of characters. Among her most notable anime roles are Violet Evergarden in Violet Evergarden, Mitsuha Miyamizu in Your Name., the erythrocyte [=AE3803=] in Cells at Work!, and Ami Mizuno / Sailor Mercury in various Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon projects. She has also voiced Shizuku Tsukishima in Whisper of the Heart, Karina Lyle/Blue Rose in Tiger & Bunny 2, Itsuki Sumeragi in Kakegurui, and Faris NyanNyan in Steins;Gate 0. Her other anime credits include roles in Komi Can't Communicate (Nokoko Inaka), Summer Time Rendering (Ushio Kofune), The Seven Deadly Sins (Melascula, Elatte), Arte (Arte), Her Blue Sky (Chika Ōtaki), Liz and the Blue Bird (Ririka Kenzaki), and Wolf Children (Yuki), among many others.

Beyond anime, Ionica is also the official Italian voice of the Disney character Moana (Vaiana) and has voiced characters in a broad range of Western animation, such as Marcy Wu in Amphibia, Kikimora in The Owl House, Molly McGee in The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Rayla in The Dragon Prince.

Throughout her career, she has frequently collaborated with a consistent group of fellow Italian voice actors. Data from Behind The Voice Actors indicates she has worked most often with Leonardo Graziano, Laura Lenghi, Manuel Meli, Joy Saltarelli, Alex Polidori, and Gaia Bolognesi, each on multiple projects.

In 2023, Ionica expanded her work to include on-screen acting, making her feature film debut in the Italian comedy Una commedia pericolosa. Her contributions to voice acting were recognized the same year with a nomination for Best Female Voice at the Gran Premio del Doppiaggio awards.
