Description
Akane Origami is a central figure in the narrative, known for being the younger sister of Yukari Origami and the founder of the anti-Origami group Mokusa. She eventually assumes the role of head of the Origami Family. In terms of appearance, Akane is a woman with waist-length black hair, usually styled into a low ponytail with framing strands on either side of her face, and deep aqua eyes that often hold a kind and gentle expression. Her attire is similar to a military uniform, consisting of a buttoned-up dress shirt, a purple coat, a long purple-and-white pleated skirt, black hosiery, and white boots, accessorized with a red brooch and a white shawl. Twenty years before the main events, she had short black hair.

Akane's personality stands in stark contrast to that of her older sister. She is gentle-mannered, kind-hearted, and deeply caring for the well-being of others. Despite her soft demeanor, she is determined and courageous, showing a strong sense of duty that compels her to oppose her own sister, even given the vast differences in their political power and family standing. She believes Yukari's existence as an Aradama poses a risk to others.

Her background is deeply tied to the Great Disaster of Sagami Bay, which occurred twenty years prior. As a student at Renpu Girls' School, Akane was a Toji who participated in the forces assisting the Special Ritual Riot Squad during the disaster and is considered a veteran of the incident. However, in the aftermath, she discovered that her sister Yukari, one of the heroes of the disaster, was no longer the same person. She also found that two other heroes, Kagari Juujou and Minato Fujiwara, had been erased from official records. Suspecting that a Great Aradama she calls Tagitsuhime had taken over her sister's body, Akane founded the underground anti-Origami group Mokusa to resist Yukari. As part of her efforts, she wrote a letter to Kagari Juujou, which would later be read by Kagari's daughter, Hiyori, urging the younger Toji to plot an assassination against Yukari.

Akane's role in the story is primarily that of a mentor, ally, and source of hidden truth. She provides refuge and training for the main characters, including Kanami Etou and Hiyori Juujou, at the Mokusa headquarters. She is the one who reveals the hidden history of the Great Disaster, confirming that Kanami's mother, Minato Fujiwara, was a hero whose name was erased, and that she was the author of the letter Hiyori received. Akane orchestrates a direct plan to confront her sister, even surrendering herself to the authorities as part of a larger gambit. After Tagitsuhime is defeated and Yukari is absent, Akane is released and assumes the position of Deputy Director of the Special Sword Administration Bureau, working to find a way to completely extract noro from the human body.

Key relationships define her actions. Her primary relationship is with her sister, Yukari Origami, whom she opposes not out of malice but out of a sense of duty to protect others from the Aradama possessing her. She is the leader and founder of Mokusa, earning the loyalty of its members, including Richard Friedman, Rui Onda, and the Toji from Osafune Girls' Academy. She also has a significant connection to the next generation, particularly Hiyori Juujou, whom she tasked with a heavy burden, and Kanami Etou, whose mother fought alongside her. Her working relationship with Sana Maniwa, the president of Osafune Girls' Academy, continues into the post-crisis period as they collaborate at the Special Sword Administration Bureau.

Regarding her development, Akane transitions from a concerned younger sister and a veteran of a great tragedy into an active conspirator and leader of a resistance movement. After the immediate crisis is resolved, she steps into a formal political and administrative role, moving from the shadows to a position of public authority to help manage the ongoing consequences of the conflict.

As for notable abilities, Akane possesses the standard combat abilities expected of a Toji during her active years. However, by the time of the main story, she no longer serves as an active Toji and is described as being a normal woman without special combat capabilities.
