ONA
Description
Kyōka Kagami is a key figure within the organization known as the Shoshidai, which is tasked with collecting and managing cursed weapons known as Busoma. She is the daughter of Takuma Miura, the former administrator of the Shoshidai, and inherited leadership of the organization after enduring profound personal loss. Her mother died when she was young, leaving her solely in the care of her father, who later became a Busoma after being possessed by the demonic sword Zsoltgewinn. This betrayal and loss define much of her character arc.
Personally, Kyōka is characterized by a calm and collected exterior, described as a composed and beautiful commander who maintains a level-headed demeanor even in crisis. Beneath this cool surface, she harbors deep emotions and a fierce loyalty to her comrades, as well as a hidden passion and special feelings for those she cares about. She values duty and the mission of the Shoshidai, but her decisions are often driven by a strong sense of compassion and a desire to protect others, even when it puts her own status at risk.
Her primary motivation revolves around controlling the threat of the Busoma and, more personally, finding a way to save her father from his transformation into a monster. This leads her to advocate for using a prototype vaccine on him rather than simply destroying him, showing her willingness to defy organizational protocol out of love. As the administrator of the Shoshidai, she holds the authority to decide when Chrysalises—humans fused with cursed weapons—are deployed and when they must be placed into cold sleep to prevent them from becoming Busoma.
Kyōka’s key relationships include her father Takuma Miura, whose fall into darkness deeply affects her, and the Chrysalises under her command, such as Gai and Seiya Ichijō. She shows particular concern for Gai, whose unique status as a Chrysalis with the legendary sword Shiryū makes him both a valuable asset and a potential threat. She also interacts with other members of the Shoshidai, including agents like Naoki Miki and Marcus Lithos, and she works alongside the Gabi, a separate group of warriors who fight Busoma.
Over the course of the story, Kyōka undergoes development as she struggles to balance her official duties with her personal emotions. Her initial detached efficiency gives way to more vulnerable and determined actions, especially when she tries to redeem her father and protect the Chrysalises she commands. She does not possess supernatural combat abilities herself; her strength lies in her strategic mind, her authority, and her resolve to make difficult decisions for the greater good while never abandoning her humanity. She is also known to reawaken Chrysalises from cold sleep when needed, demonstrating her control over the organization’s resources.
