Description
Mike is a calico cat-colored Nyanbo and one of the main characters in the anime. He is a carefree and mischievous creature who often gets himself and the other Nyanbos into trouble with his playful antics. Despite his tendency to cause chaos, Mike is fundamentally good-hearted and cares about his friends. He is described as powerful and action-oriented, preferring to act on impulse rather than planning ahead, which sometimes leads to mistakes that the group must resolve together. His personality is characterized by a lack of stress and a generally laid-back attitude, to the point that Tora once points out that Mike seems to have no worries at all, prompting Mike to try to prove otherwise.
Mike’s primary motivation appears to be enjoying life and having fun, rather than being driven by the overarching goal of repairing the UFO and returning to space. He does assist in the search for UFO pieces, but he is often more interested in the immediate fun of the moment. In one episode, he attempts to prove to Tora that he is not lazy and can be a hard worker, showing that he does have a desire to be seen as useful. In another, he becomes curious about the cat-like behaviors of the Nyanbos and investigates whether they truly act like cats, demonstrating a thoughtful side.
In the group, Mike serves as comic relief and a source of impulsive energy. His relationships with other Nyanbos are warm but occasionally strained by his actions. For example, he plays roughly with Kotora and accidentally causes her to lose her teddy bear, leading to conflict with Tora. He also joins Tora in finding a UFO piece that allows the Nyanbos to transform into animals, leading to chaotic fun. Mike shares a close friendship with Tora, Shiro, and Kuro, and he is a regular member of the team that works toward recovering the UFO fragments.
Mike does not have any special abilities beyond the standard Nyanbo traits of being small, cat-like, and able to interact with UFO pieces. His notable traits are his boundless energy and his tendency to act before thinking, which often drives the episodic plots. Over the course of the series, Mike shows minor development in that he occasionally reflects on his behavior and tries to improve, but he remains essentially a carefree and mischievous Nyanbo throughout.
