Description
Georgette Lemare is a witch from the former Gallian Republic who serves as a member of the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, also known as the Brave Witches. Born on November 16, 1927, in the small inn-owning Lemare family of Ballanton in Lower Normandy, she stands 156 centimeters tall. Her familiar is a Persian cat. Lemare was discovered to have magical potential at a very young age and volunteered for military service, eventually qualifying as a flight witch. She began her combat career in 1939 as a sergeant, piloting a P-36 Hawk striker unit. During the Gallian retreat of 1940, she was stationed at the Brest naval port and was part of the effort to escort the unfinished battleship Richelieu and other naval forces to the safety of the port of Dakar in West Africa. She continued her service there as a member of the Gallian Air Force belonging to the Southern Orthodox Gallian government. During the defense of Dakar, she performed exceptionally while protecting the Richelieu, officially credited with shooting down three Neuroi in a single day. In 1943, as the various Gallian air forces consolidated into the Free Gallian Air Force with Orussian support, Lemare was commissioned as a pilot officer and transferred to the Normandie-Niemen unit. Because of her tenacity in combat, her exceptional defensive fighting techniques, and her rare magical talents, she was personally invited by Flight Lieutenant Aleksandra I. Pokryshkin to join the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, where she holds the rank of junior lieutenant.

In personality, Lemare has a sweet, gentle, and straightforward disposition. She possesses a strong sense of common sense and a mature, worldly perspective, which often makes her feel like a grounded presence among the other, more eccentric members of the 502nd. However, she is also described as having a tendency to go with the flow and follow strong leaders, which can make her life in the unit difficult. Having grown up helping her parents run their inn, she is very skilled at and genuinely enjoys general housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and making beds. She willingly takes on cleaning duties, but becomes extremely angry if anyone interferes with her while she is working.

Lemare's primary role in the story is as a dependable support member of the 502nd. Her key relationship is with her recruiter, Flight Lieutenant Pokryshkin, who valued her defensive combat style and unique abilities. Her development within the unit revolves around her finding her place as a reliable rear-guard, contrasting her more ordinary and sensible nature against the stronger personalities of her comrades. Notably, she is one of the few members of the 502nd who does not engage in the disruptive antics common to the group, a fact that ironically places her in the position of being one of its long-suffering, hard-working members.

The most notable of Georgette Lemare's abilities is her talent for healing magic. This power is similar to that of the famous witch Yoshika Miyafuji, but it is limited to an emergency or first-aid level of treatment. Using this magic places a tremendous strain on her body, sending her metabolism into overdrive. As a direct consequence, she experiences a sharp increase in body temperature and extreme fatigue, as well as an insatiable hunger. To maintain her strength, she must eat constantly, and she is often seen as a glutton with a voracious appetite, sometimes secretly eating late at night to satisfy the demands of her magic. Despite this heavy consumption, she remains quite slim. Her magical aura also has a notable side effect of generating considerable warmth, enough to thaw frozen objects within its radius, though this application is considered highly unorthodox. In combat beyond her magic, she is known for her resilient defensive techniques and her tenacious fighting spirit. Her preferred striker units include the VG.33 and VG.39, and she is typically armed with a Bren light machine gun or an FM mle 1924/29 light machine gun.
