Description
Naoshi Kanno is a Japanese fighter pilot from the Second World War who is transported into the unknown world of Drifters while engaging in combat. He arrives in his aircraft during a battle against the Black King, at a time when the Drifters are under attack by dragons. The sight of the dragons and their assault reminds him of the United States bombing of Tokyo, prompting him to immediately join the fight. His background as a military aviator shapes his role among the Drifters, providing the group with aerial support in a setting that lacks modern aircraft aside from his own. Kanno is known for his direct, confrontational manner, often expressing himself with blunt language and a quick temper, but he is also driven by a sense of duty and a desire to protect others from the destruction he once experienced. His key relationships include the other prominent Drifters such as Shimazu Toyohisa, Oda Nobunaga, and Nasu Yoichi, with whom he fights against the Ends and the Orte Empire. Over the course of the story, Kanno adapts to the fantastical world by using his plane effectively against draconic and other enemies, though his personal development is largely defined by his unwavering pilot’s instincts and his struggle to reconcile his past trauma with his new purpose. His notable abilities lie in his exceptional piloting skills, tactical aerial maneuvering, and the use of his fighter aircraft’s weaponry, which make him a unique and valuable asset in a world dominated by magic and medieval warfare.
