Description
Chijiwa is a Basara, a high-ranking and powerful Kegare, who originates from the Outcast Valley village. He is the twin brother of Momochi, and the two are commonly found together. In his human-like appearance, Chijiwa has mostly black hair with a distinct white streak on the left side. His eyes are mismatched, with a golden-colored right eye and a left eye that is black with a red pupil, featuring a zig-zag crack beneath it. He typically dresses in a black tuxedo with a matching black bow tie and a red and white shirt underneath.

Chijiwa generally maintains a smiling demeanor, but he can be particular about the spell power he consumes. In battle, his nature becomes more serious and focused. Despite his own personality quirks, he is always receptive to the advice of his twin brother, as the two share a deep and complete understanding of each other due to always being together. The bond between them is exceptionally strong, and the death of Momochi has a profound and devastating effect on Chijiwa. Following this loss, he becomes unhinged, creating puppets in the likeness of his brother and speaking to them as if they were real. This tragedy also fuels a powerful vengeful streak, driving his subsequent actions.

Chijiwa and his brother Momochi first engage the Twin Star Exorcists in battle. Together, they prove to be formidable opponents, capable of resisting the Twin Stars' Resonance ability and subduing them. Their plan to absorb the exorcists' spell power is thwarted by the intervention of the mysterious girl Sae, who frees the Twin Stars and transports everyone back to the real world. The battle resumes with the Twin Stars refusing aid from the Heavenly Commanders. Chijiwa and Momochi continue to press their advantage, but they are ultimately overwhelmed by a powerful Resonance attack. Momochi pushes Chijiwa out of the way of the blast, but both are severely injured and taken back to the Magano realm by the Basara Kuranashi.

Kuranashi, believing Momochi to be useless due to his injuries, kills him and absorbs his spiritual energy, transferring it to Chijiwa. This act heals Chijiwa's wounds, including the regeneration of a lost leg, and greatly increases his power. Kuranashi lies to Chijiwa, telling him the Twin Stars were responsible for his brother's death. Consumed by grief and a desire for revenge, Chijiwa places the full blame on Rokuro Enmado and Benio Adashino. Armed with a charm from Kuranashi that allows him to enter the real world covered in miasma, Chijiwa launches a final, vengeful assault. He overpowers multiple opponents, including the Twin Stars and a Heavenly Commander, but is ultimately killed by Rokuro. In his final moments, he weakly calls out his brother's name as he disintegrates.

As a Basara, Chijiwa possesses enchanted power that makes him more powerful than most Kegare and exorcists, with his strength being comparable to members of the Twelve Heavenly Commanders. After receiving his brother's power, his abilities increased even further. He has the ability to use an Impurity Corruption Spell, creating strings from his own spell power. These strings can be used to manipulate the movements of opponents, effectively turning them into puppets; any attempt to forcibly remove the strings is deadly to the victim. After absorbing Momochi's power, Chijiwa gains a potent regeneration ability, demonstrated when he fully recovers his leg. His Impure Death Equip, known as Baso Hyakubu, grants him six spider-like limbs that boost his overall combat ability. The charm given to him by Kuranashi, Roengaimu, permits him to enter the real world while covered in miasma, allowing him to use his full power as if he were still in the Magano realm.
