Description
Megu Kataoka is a student of Kunugigaoka Junior High School’s Class 3-E and serves as the female class representative, a role she shares with Yuma Isogai. She is a tall, athletic girl with a refined appearance and a natural sense of authority, which has earned her the nickname Ikemegu, meaning “Handsome Meg.” She excels in both academics and sports, ranking among the top girls in her class during term exams and demonstrating particular skill in swimming and knife-fighting—tied for first place among the girls in knife technique. Her confident, responsible demeanor makes her a reliable leader among her classmates.

Kataoka’s backstory involves a period of being exploited by a former friend. The previous year, she had taught a classmate named Kokona Tawawa how to swim. After Tawawa neglected her training and nearly drowned during a rescue situation, she unfairly blamed Kataoka and forced her into providing constant study help. This obligation drained Kataoka’s time and energy, causing her own grades to slip and leading to her transfer to Class 3-E. Under Korosensei’s guidance, she eventually learned to set firm boundaries and ended the parasitic relationship, regaining control over her own life.

In terms of personality, Kataoka is dependable, cool-headed, and highly principled. She is willing to take charge when the class needs direction, but she also has a softer side and sometimes worries about being perceived as too masculine or unfeminine. This internal conflict is part of her character growth; by the end of the story she becomes more comfortable in her own skin, choosing a career path in corporate management rather than the more traditionally feminine role of flight attendant she had once considered. She values teamwork and frequently acts as a bridge between different groups of classmates, particularly with more reserved students like Yukiko Kanzaki.

Her key relationship is with Isogai, her fellow class representative. The two cooperate closely on class affairs, and while their bond is mostly professional, other students often speculate about romantic undercurrents between them. Kataoka also forms strong friendships with other girls in Class 3-E, such as Hinata Okano, Hinano Kurahashi, and Rinka Hayami, and is known for giving thoughtful advice when others come to her with problems. Despite her composed exterior, she can sometimes become overly serious or hot-headed, and she learns throughout the series to accept the input of others and delegate leadership when needed.

Her role in the story is primarily as a capable organizer and moral anchor for the class. She takes part in various assassination plans, using her physical abilities and quick thinking to support her teammates. She also grows through the experience of being placed in Class 3-E, learning that failure does not define her worth and that she can pursue her own ambitions while still being a caring leader. By graduation, she has matured into a confident young woman who balances her strength with empathy and self-acceptance.
