TV-Series
Description
Galileo Galilei, often called Galiko by her peers, is a young girl and a supporting character who serves as an E-Gene Holder for the multinational organization DOGOO. Despite sharing her name with the famous Renaissance astronomer, Galiko is physically a child with a youthful appearance, characterized by her short stature, short eyebrows, and long dark-pink hair worn in pigtails. She typically wears the standard silver uniform of her platoon, which includes a red tie and black shoes, though this is often obscured when she activates her special abilities.
Personality-wise, Galiko is energetic and cheerful but noticeably immature, often acting her age in a manner that can be haughty and rude, particularly towards newcomers. Before the protagonist joined the organization, Galiko was the newest member of her unit and was frequently treated as an errand-runner or gopher by her colleague John Hunter. In an attempt to assert a higher status, she initially acted dismissively and condescendingly toward the rookie Shio. Her most defining personal trait is a strong, precocious crush on her teammate François Vidocq. This infatuation causes her to become jealous easily, especially when others speak with him, and she has demonstrated a willingness to endure significant pain if he asks her to, believing it will help him gather information.
Within the story, Galiko serves a critical support role rather than a frontline combat position. As the E-Gene Holder of the astronomer Galileo Galilei, she channels his spirit through an AU tool to manifest abilities related to observation and analysis. Her primary duty is to serve as mission control and a spotter from a safe distance. She is responsible for searching for and studying enemy targets, known as Evolutionary Invasion Objects, to provide her team with tactical data.
Her relationship with the other characters is largely defined by her role as support and her youthful interactions. Beyond her infatuation with Vidocq, she works closely with members of her platoon, including the sniper Shio and the analyst John Hunter, though she clashed with the former upon their first meeting. Galiko develops over the course of the series primarily through her experiences with these teammates, transitioning from the resident newbie to a more integrated, if still childish, member of the group. Despite her initial rudeness, she contributes significantly to the team's success through her unique abilities.
Galikos notable abilities are derived from her AU weapon, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which encloses her in a miniature planetarium-like sphere while active. This device grants her binocular vision and allows her to deploy four detachable, spherical remote sensor probes named after the Galilean moons of Jupiter: Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. These probes can travel a distance from her to see, hear, and collect data, even underwater, and she can transmit video feeds to her allies like Shio to assist with targeting. However, a major vulnerability is that these probes are linked to her physical body; damage to a probe, such as the one named Europa, will cause corresponding injury to her, such as affecting her right eye, and the destruction of a probe could potentially be fatal for her.
