Description
Hibiki Hagyū is a main character in the comedy anime, recognized for her distinctive red hair and her membership in Class 1-7 at Tennomifube Academy. Her specific misfortune, which defines a great deal of her daily life, is an exceptionally poor sense of direction that causes her to get lost almost immediately, even when following simple routes. This disorientation is so severe that it takes her multiple hours to reach school if she attempts the journey alone, a flaw she is reluctant to admit. Her birthday is April 1st.

In terms of personality, Hibiki generally presents herself with a cool, level-headed, and somewhat indomitable demeanor. However, this composed exterior is extremely fragile and is easily shattered by two specific triggers: general frustration and anything involving her childhood friend, Ren Ekoda. When it comes to Ren, Hibiki’s behavior shifts dramatically to that of a classic tsundere; she becomes easily flustered, jealous, and emotionally transparent. Her primary motivation is deeply intertwined with Ren. She harbors an intense, unconfessed romantic crush on her friend and is driven by a desire to remain close to her. This infatuation manifests as hostility or envy towards any other female who gets too close to Ren.

Hibiki’s role within the story is as one-fifth of the core group of unlucky students tasked with finding happiness. While she is often exasperated by the chaos caused by her peers, her most consistent narrative function is as a foil to the perpetually lost and often oblivious Anne. She provides a more grounded, if easily agitated, presence in the group. Her most significant key relationship is unquestionably with Ren Ekoda, who acts as her unofficial guide. Ren is the only person who can reliably lead Hibiki in the right direction, and her calm, sleepy nature serves as a stark contrast to Hibiki's easily rattled composure. The dynamic between the two, which includes moments where Ren offers to feed her and Hibiki becomes intensely shy, forms the emotional core of her character arc. She also regularly interacts with the other members of Class 1-7, including the unnaturally unlucky Anne Hanakoizumi, the shy Ruri Hibarigaoka, and the fragile Botan Kumegawa.

Regarding development, Hibiki remains largely consistent, with her growth shown in her increasing willingness to openly interact with the rest of the group rather than staying solely focused on Ren. Her character is defined by a contradiction: though she is usually cool-minded, her devotion to Ren is so powerful that it frequently overrides her better judgment, leading to her getting lost or into comical trouble when her focus is solely on her companion. Hibiki does not possess any superhuman or notable abilities; her primary skills are mundane and often undercut by her own misfortune. While she likely has the capacity to be practical and decisive, this is almost always rendered irrelevant by her inability to navigate to any location without assistance.
